Do you still say formidable in France, or would that be considered a bit old fashioned?

"pas mal" ta vidéo ;-) "pas mal" est l'expression que j'ai entendu le plus par les français quand il s'agit de dire "bien" ou "bon". On dirait que l'on a du mal à faire des compliments ou à ne pas râler, et donc on va dire à quelqu'un que son travail est "pas mal" quand c'est bien ou que sa cuisine est "pas mal du tout" quand c'est excellent

I would like more lessons on interactions in French restaurants. In this lesson, you mention “bon,” as in “bon gateau “ and also “sympa,” as in “un restaurant sympa.” But do you have more colloquial ways to talk to servers and even compliment them on the food and service?

Hello😊 I might be slightly late but I think I could help you with this one. As a French girl I don't really pay any attentions to that but I can understand that it is quite tricky for foreigners. If you're comfortable enough with French I advice you to check this article " place de l'adjectif" on Françaisfacile.com.

Merci beaucoup!
@thierryf67
6 жыл бұрын
it's not the same bird. the "chouette" is smaller than the "hibou". I don't know if there's a different word in english than owl... the "hibou" has some feathers up on its head, that look like 2 little "horns'. You can see photos if you search Hibou or Chouette on Google. We also call them with others names : "Chevêche" and "Effraie" are different species of "Chouette", "Grand Duc" or "petit Duc" are different species of "Hibou". At 3:31 surely the caption should read "on est pres qu'arrivé" without the final s. I know you are substituting on for nous, but it remains a singular, as evidenced by use of "est", despite common usage. In earlier captions (2:53 and 2:09) you refer to "ses" chaussures and chez "soi" but verbally refer to your own shoes and home - are you dreaming of the home and shoes of another?
@thierryf67
6 жыл бұрын
"ses" is the possessive form at the 3rd person ("on"). At the first person (je), she should says "mes" chaussures. it's again the impersonnal form used for "nous", or for a generalisation (that's the case, i think). the same for the use of "chez soi" instead of "chez moi". it's a general form, the subject is not specified, that's apply to every one.
