At the time in Latin America (Costa Rica) where not many families had access to cable, here I am at a friend's house when I was 14 watching MTV (cause they had cable) and Frente! - Labour of Love came out. I got in love instantly of the strumming and singing. At the time I was also taking guitar lessons so this song was definitely inspirational. To make the story short, Marving the Album was one of the few and only albums I saved money for to buy. It'll be one of the all-time albums of my life for sure!

Saw these guys do this one and all of Marvin the Album at a church in San Francisco back then. There were maybe 50 of us in the audience--they never quite became a household name in the US ;) I love how she makes singing sound so effortless and easy. And then you try to sing along and realize how really unique and talented she is.

I really love this album. I was so glad the Bizarre Love Triangle cover was on MTV so I'd check out the rest of the album. And it was so well produced that it made my horrible cheap car stereo sound good. And I've always thought Australian and NZ singers and groups are uniquely great.

Im not completely sure, but i clearly remember a man playing the spoons. I was probably 12-13 at the time, so it is kind of blurry. That was a great show.

@@jennivaccaro7422 it took me 3 years to see this reply. my apologies!!!! When I saw filter it was in 2000 and it was in a little bigger of a venue the American theater. Whatever happened to the American theater? I saw some really good shows there! Now I'm being nostalgic and looking at my ticket stubs that made it through many moves and many Life changes. I have my ticket stub from the frente show and it was signed by Angie and Simon but I went through a kind of ... Hummm.... incriminating (for lack of a better word) time in my life and I made sure all of my valuables and sentimental possessions were safe with a good friend of mine. She was a big fan of Frente as well and I wanted her to keep it because she loved it and she did me a solid keeping my stuff safe when, no doubt, it would have been destroyed or stolen or God knows what else otherwise. Too bad youtube cant post pictures in the comments like Facebook because I've got a picture of it, displayed in the CD case for 'Marvin the album' saved on one of my clouds somewhere. Lol

Ha! Yeah right. The only reason all these cool alternative artists were able to make a name for themselves in the 90s is in reaction to the previous two, three, four decades of surface conquering substance. There were a brief few years when the reverse was sometimes true, which allowed a bunch of art weirdos to have a voice in pop culture briefly, but it was really just a rebellious reaction to the mindless commercialism that had been the norm for decades previously and has been the norm in the two decades and change since.
