I am glad you are also using the big studio for your material. Looking at a beautiful tank while you discuss the details puts you at ease. MD's videos cover the grand aspects of the studio and builds. Your videos show the deeper end, the finer details. This way you are not in each other ways. Studio is fully utilized. Excellent work.

I liked the insight you gave on wild-caught fish near the end! I think a lot of people are so detached from nature (by no fault of their own) that they assume animals live symbiotically but there is always a bigger fish and nature is a cruel but beautiful thing.

I have had 1 clouded archerfish for a few years now. I have wanted to add more but they are difficult to find. Now I am afraid that the one I have may be too big to accept more . I have a 125 with the clouded archerfish and 7 Roselines. I am interested in adding something colorful...maybe blue mascara or Rosy barbs? Still working on perfecting the setup. The Roselines make it impossible to have plants except anubias and java ferns. I keep the water level down 4-6 inches so he can hunt for his crickets. The tank has a lid to prevent jumping out or cats getting in . Looking for ways to create more overhang/ secure plants to glass etc.
@FishShopMatt
9 ай бұрын
Unfortunately that is something that you may just have to try and see how they get on. They aren't majorly aggressive toward each other, if you were going to try I would put a small group in to try and diffuse any aggression. What about securing some plants just above and below the water level on wood? I did a video a week or so ago about securing plants to wood.

I am now wondering if the archer fish would enjoy the occasional meal worm - since you have them for the puffers? I'm sure they'd be happy chasing them across the woodwork :) Oh - talk to Cory at Aquarium Co-op - he's been out catching fish himself, he's seen how the environment is impacted by humans in these remote areas and where fish are a valued resource as well as ignored. He'll have actual data for you on wild caught environments.

Good video as always. Is that Creeping Jenny that i see growing on the top of that tank? If so, dont chuck it in your garden, grows like mental in the UK, survives winter with no die back, grow through your lawn, over big rocks, cover other ground covering plants, very hard to get rid of if it gets established somewhere. Great in a tank though.

@@FishShopMatt Do you have any suggestion for a fish that's not(!) a corydora, and that could go well in an aquarium that's about 200L with praecox rainbows? I'm planning to get that, but want something more than the praecox. I love gouramis, but they might not like to live with the praecox? It is why I specifically went for wild caught cardinal tetras since for example the Piaberos in Brazil also work to protect the forest these fish live and are caught from. Keeping alive this fishery makes sure the forest is protected and these people don't need to resort to destructive ways for their livelihoods.

Great Video! I've recently been looking into keeping these myself so your information has helped. Question if i may, if your looking at keeping a biotope with the Clouded archers as the main fish would the Fireline Danio be too small a fish for the schooling species? or am i looking more at say the Giant Danio or Odessa Barb? as i was looking for something with a hint of colour.
