I agree... I have been ill the last 2 weeks, but self isolated because of watching Dr. Campbell's videos here from the beginning. I tested negative for influenza and was told I just have "some random cold virus." Because of Dr. John, I have not spread this in the community. Whether it's just a cold or COVID-19 does not matter... getting sick with anything right now puts people at risk, and if they have a cold then they are weakened if they catch COVID-19. These videos have no doubt already saved people from possible illness or perhaps even death.

I'm with you. Our government finally announced today that 1 million tests will be going out in the next 8 hours, and 4 million more next week, with greater production ramping up beyond that. I've been shocked by the absolute lack of action by our CDC. A majority of Americans do not trust the CDC to handle this effectively. All that's offered me any solace is the NY Times article that interviewed survivors and recanted their experiences. There is hope for a majority of us to survive this. I just fear for the at risk demographics.

He, and the others who we were exposed to, are not qualified to test for the virus because according to the government, the virus is not locally transmitted. How will the government EVER acknowledge local transmission is occurring when they wont grant citizens realistic qualifications to test??? I have heard first-hand from other nurses in the community that patients are being turned away from the hospitals after having clear symptoms because they have not traveled to China, have not had physical contact with someone who has tested positive, and do not need to be in the ICU. My wife and I decided to no longer go to parks, theaters, mass gatherings, churches etc until further notice. It’s ALL WE CAN DO. Vaccines take time. It does not matter what the nationality of the criticiser is. What matters is whether the criticiser is correct. The United States has many admirable aspects. The CDC's handling of this outbreak is NOT one of them. The CDC's handling of this outbreak has been amateurish and immensely incompetent. The biggest problem is the test kits, but there are others.

It also might have helped if this hadn't happened: In 2018, the White House focused on eliminating funding to Obama-era disease security programs. In March of that year, Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer, whose job it was to lead the U.S. response in the event of a pandemic, abruptly left the administration and his global health security team was disbanded. That same year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was forced to slash its efforts to prevent global disease outbreak by 80% as its funding for the program began to run out. Also cut was the Complex Crises Fund, a $30 million emergency response pool that was at the secretary of state’s disposal to deploy disease experts and others in the event of a crisis. (The fund was created by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.) So the whole world is paying for trump's obsession to destroy anything the Obama administration put into place. Sad.

The difference maybe: Not a pandemic -> countries should try to contain the infected people. Pandemic -> next step, to late for containing. At this point Containing is the best to do. And it seems, there is a difference between China, South Korea, Singapore and Europe. In Europe the governments seem to accept 60 to 80% of the people will get the virus and containment is only to make infections delay. In Asia maybe the government really try to isolate and contain. They did not give up so fast. China was so bad at the beginning. Than they take actions and they had a very great impact on economy. But in Germany for example, the economic seems more important for the government.

Dr. John, I’m a 74 year old retired nurse living on my own. I have no idea why people are buying up toilet paper in Australia. There is none on the shelves, nor tissues or pasta BUT there is plenty of rubber gloves, alcohol wipes and strong detergent which are more important to protect yourself from the virus. I plan to only go out in public to shop for groceries wearing rubber gloves and a face mask if I can get some. If I get the virus, I will shop online and will work something out with my doctor and chemist regarding my medications. Don’t plan to die yet as my family needs me. Thank you, A proactive baby bloomer.

I’m in South Australia, breaks my heart to think of the aged or infirm in our town who have to search everywhere just to get toilet paper. Another issue is that our local doctors can’t access face masks for at least a couple of months. It would be nice if our country was being proactive instead of reactive! All of the best to you and stay well 💜

He is just being realistic. I also live in Britain and the way our government has handled this is shocking. Might aswell have just opened the door to it in virus terms. I'm almost certain I and my family will also get it despite our very best efforts so all we can do is hope its mild and/or the NHS has some spare spaces left by then. In the doctors case he has age against him (same here) but he also has a good understanding of what is happening, why that is and what (if anything) he can do about it which a lot of people don't. That knowledge goes a long way.

I think most people would like to go home and wait it out, they just need job security. The problem is we have this thing called “at will” employment. At will states happen to be places where people are very unhappy with their current living situation. My last employer literally wanted to see a death certificate for my grandma who was on her deathbed. This is the crap that the average Joe has to go through. Who wants to go through that long grind of finding the job that you want, again? Employers no longer care about practicing leniency and compassion, all they care is about money.
