1. I LOVE how all he insults that Emily has for that footstomper maid were german related-Marching on Poland, Sound like a munich berrhal rally, a summer cruise down the Rhine... HAHAHAHA

Honestly, I DO think Emily is overly demanding, but she makes a good point. She pays her staff extremely well, and it doesn't even sound as if that stops when she fires them. She even includes a nice severance package for them, which is more than what some multibillionare CEOs I could mention manage for their employees...

@@EmphaticNod The problem is that she is being extreme. She finds one thing she does not like about a maid and she fires them. Just look at her crazy analogy. She thinks firing a maid over the smallest issue is akin to a company stuffing you in coach when you paid first class. Just because you pay top dollar for someone to do something to you doesn't mean you have to be unkind to them. I love Emily but her whole Upper East Side corporate wife attitude can really be a problem.

@@andrewwall9708 Haha, maybe I find her more agreeable because I know that, much like with the rest of the cast, her flaws are exaggerated for the sake of comedy. Within the context of *Gilmore Girls,* her eccentricities are pretty tame, but I'd have a pretty low opinion of someone in rl who treated her employees this way, I'm sure.

As a German myself I totally get why the maid is suing Emily. I'm not agreeing with her or with Emily, I just say I get it. The maid got fired for walking to loud and Emily told her so. That is barely work related and so she fellt discriminated and in Germany it is very easy to sue your former employer for discrimination especially when getting fired that's why employers usually tell you when you're laid off because of something along the lines of "internal reorganisation" or your contract simply doesn't get renewed. Again I'm neither agreeing with whether Emily is right or not, I'm just saying there is a cultural disconnection.

Well, part of the job description of being a millionaire socialite's maid is that you have to make yourself as invisible as possible. You also cant sneeze, fart, cough and breathe too loudly in their presence. Big NO-NOs. A maid working for these rich snobs knows this. You're supposed to act in a way that makes them forget you exist or at least not disrupt their deep thoughts and precious existence. It's snobbish, but I agree with Emily. She pays good money to have that Royalty 18th century treatment by her staff. The german maid had no right to sue. She was paid better than any other maid for same services that any average paying employer would get. You want to be a millionaire socialite's maid, you gotta be a geisha.

But the question is did Emily give her a warning to walk more quietly before firing her? Or did she go with one strike and your out?

Personally I think Emily is in the wrong here. She’s acting like she can always get what she wants and everything must be perfect because that’s what she paid for. Face it, Emily, you won’t always get what you want. A maid walks too loud and you fire her? That’s just petty and callous. She doesn’t know how that maid receives her income. It really goes to show how entitled and privileged she is. She thinks about how everything affects her, not about how her leaving this maid unemployed affected the maid.

Emily has a point here. Expecting a woman to be more accommodating than is necessary definitely has a sexist slant to it.

Yeah but firing someone over something so trivial is ridiculous at best and is a legit reason for suing if the maid performed her duties well otherwise.
