What does being a brother or a sister mean? What does that mean for how you view the rest of the world and your place in it?
Children's #relationships with their #siblings can change over time - and sometimes in very positive ways. Professor Rosalind Edwards led a Timescapes #research project exploring the significance of sisters, brothers and friends in the lives of children.
The 'Your Space' study followed a sample of 50 children and young people from all walks of life over a period of time to look at how they understood their relationship with their siblings and parents. They found lots of interesting results, for example how children have hopes for their parents, and how their hopes change as they get older.
This kind of research helps us to understand how people understand themselves and their position in society which is helpful for those delivering services. Watch more in the video.
