I know it's late but let me add some advice. The sparking when you were using the torch is the carbon escaping the material. That is bad. Avoid the sparks.

Thank you for your video. The frizzen on my musket dont makes sparks anymore, and I want to try your procedure My question is what are you using for hardening compound? What brand or what kind of product espacially use for metals?

i got some TRU_SPARK compound from track of the wolf in USA when i got the new frizzen .

If we were getting good old fashioned American quality steel these days, you wouldn’t need to do this. With cheap junky China and India steel this is the garbage quality you get these days.

@@Joseywales414 pour ton information, mon fusil a été fabriqué en 1978 et vient de l'Inde. La batterie (frizzen) n'a jamais été changée ou réparée, alors je considère que c'est de très bonne qualité après avoir été utilisé durant toutes ces années.
