great video as always, thanks upflip team! I think a kind of cool idea would be finding a company that is just starting out, interview them with similar questions such as, goals, money invested, equipment purchased and all then follow up with them in 6 months. see what they have done and how they've grown then another 6 months (1 year after starting) see where they're at and what they've done/changed. it could be like a little series. idk, it may not work but I think it would be cool to see a business start from nothing and see the progress.

Yeah this business is no way is making this much. I love all of uppflips vids, but this one isn’t it. They do not have a good business model within this industry to be making that per month. They are essentially a mobile car wash, not true detailers. I can tell just by the little snipets of the techniques, washing processes, their mindsets and knowledge of the industry. These guys are the ones servicing price based shoppers, not the value based shoppers. For reference, I make 10k a month by myself, and my detailing business coach makes 60k a month by himself. With a team of 3 people, they should be WAY more ahead. They don’t mention anything about their clients either! Besides saying they are important (well duhhhhhh).. But not how they are truly making their lives easier and what specific problems they are solving. I don’t see them having a dominate role in the detailing industry, maybe local, but as soon as a more competent company comes in and establishes themselves, it’s game over. With this business model within the industry, they are quantity over quality, and have their head in the dirt any time a client asks them a specific detailing question, about protection, or knowledge of doing it themselves. In this industry, you have to be different to grow, your hard work is only part of it. All in all, I call BS on all of this, but also respect their hustle. If they did this with my coach, (which they should, look up visual pro detailing, or detail mentor, his detailing business classes/forums/coaching), and this would be a completely different video and out look on detailing as a profession and lifestyle. His Numbers and knowledge is insane, and it may make people rethink what the detailing industry truly is. He lives in the middle of a rural town in Missouri, and he grew an amazing business by himself. That’s respect and the content they need to focus on for this industry for people wanting to start. This just makes us look stupid.

So this like the fourth video I have seen from this channel on people growing their little portable car wash hustle to well over six figures. Just to make people realize, this is not typical in the least. For all of you teenagers out there looking to get mega rich quick and skip college or drop out of high school to start "washing cars", you should really think long and hard about that decision. Ever heard the saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." Never a more true statement, especially when applied to this subject. Stay in school and get an education. You'll thank yourselves when you're older.

Don’t get business insurance to many starting companies think it’s a good idea to get business insurance after starting but really you don’t that’s how businesses don’t succeed because there wasting there money on ads and insurance and then they get burnt out thinking there business isn’t going anywhere and there stuck in that loop loosing money I would recommend building your name on google business page and get high ratings. If you messed up a detail or damaged something just pay out of pocket just be carful that’s why you have to educate yourself everyday to prevent damaging the interior or the exterior there’s good detailers that share good information to prevent bad detail work and stops you from losing money from damaging something

Good luck to all mobile car wash/detailing businesses out there. It's like any other industry with potential to grow and make profit but at the same time it only becomes profitable if you put in the effort. Do your research, think long term, think about water conservation and sustainability. Before you start consider weather aspects, local laws & requirements. These numbers discussed in this interview and inflated and could be misleading. The interview was still good to watch though. Let's be realistic and communicate the right information. Peace!

$100 an hour
@edwindigital4598
3 жыл бұрын
With any detailing... The more work that needs to be done, then obviously the longer you'll spend doing the work. Depends how dirty a car really is. You can charge hourly, or have set prices based on size of vehicle. An SUV with 3 rows of seating will take longer than a compact or midsize sedan (unless smaller car is absolutely disgusting). If you went with a set price, you can charge that for the first hour. Example... These guys charge 160 for interior. Anything past 1 hour of work to complete the interior will end up costing the customer more. Lots of different ways to set up pricing. You can even set up interior packages at different price points. Some ppl might only want everything wiped and scrubbed cleaned and a vacuum. Some ppl might want to add shampooing the floors and seats, some ppl will have leather seats that could use a cleaning/conditioning.

@@gregoryvierra6114 He's saying that those number$ are high for not having the high profit add ons like ceramic coatings (that cost $100 for materials and people charge $1,000 for putting them on when it takes 1.5 hours) . "PPF" is Paint Protection Film. It's like the auto "bra's" of old but doesn't look like trash. Again, they don't cost much in comparison to what people charge to apply them. Most of these add ons are targeted to high end car owners with disposable income. SMD business model relies on high volume (100+ cars per month) to get to their number$. At 22 working days a month they need 5 cars a day to reach $35,000k.

40,000 a month!?!! No way. Not in the vehicle detail industry. Don’t be fooled guys. Maybe like 5K a month. 40,000k is so unrealistic. -_-

I don’t mean this rudely at all but he doesn’t seem to know very much about this business. The numbers he saying and throwing out seem to be made up fast in his head. This is so inaccurate. And it’s not the fault of the interviewer. But most of the questions are not even being answered.

This business can’t be making $40,000 per month when the staff is working on one car the entire video. Y’all always over exaggerating these prices. It comes off as fake to me.

It's definitely doable. If I can do $7k/month by myself. I believe their staff can do $40k/month fairly easily even if the interviewer is just spitballing his numbers.

You're basing their revenue claim off of 1 video where they're washing a car for the sake of the video? And you're also making the assumption that their entire staff is on site at that location, and not working elsewhere.

@@nextlevelmobiledetailingllc Do you have numbers then? 1. Insurance if you screw something up plus your own insurance for your vehicle with coverage for tools and supplies? 2. Transportation and tool costs from purchasing, use, depreciation, repair and replacement? 5. Consumables costs? 6. Any time spent to get consumables or load materials into vehicle daily and any time you spend removing items from the vehicle nightly? 7. Average travel time to each job? 8. How many days a week. How many hours a day? Now with all the above data. How are taxes paid? What percentage do you keep in a fund for incidents like replace a major tool. What kind of medical and unemployment insurance do you have if you should hurt yourself and not be able to work. If you have people that work for you, are they employees, contractors or franchisees?

@@Todd.T Happy to answer. 1. Insurance cost (Small Bussiness Insurance) $114/month (Truck Insurance) $145/month 2. I spend an average of 5-10 minutes with each customer (2-3/day) 3. I don't have any advertising cost. All my customers are word of mouth. I've spent $0 on advertising in 2 years of being in business. I have a Facebook page.(no website) Unless you want to count business cards? $45 bucks 4. Transportation cost depends on the mileage I'm traveling for that week/month (Gas,truck payment,ect) Tool cost is roughly $3500 (I originally started the business with $500 and reinvested in better tools/equipment) 5. Consumables Cost? Do you mean products cost? 6. I don't remove anything from my truck. I have a truck bed cap to quip my equipment out of the elements. Only thing I do is add water to my 65 gallon tank every 3 days or so. (Depending on how many exteriors I do. 7. Average travel time is 15 minutes 8. 5 days a week. Monday-Friday 9am-6pm but I usually finish the jobs early. (2-3 cars a day) I don't have any employees yet. I just hired a book keeper to run QuickBooks. I have 2 accounts for my business (checking and savings) I know I should have more separate accounts for buying products/materials ect. I'm still learning the business side of it. I've been detailing professionally for 15 years (I'm on year 2 working for myself) I'm realizing it's 90% business 10% actual detailing.

something does not add up here, am I the only one that thinks so? first the CEO is not the CEO he's just an employee and second 40k a month seems a bit inflated if he's actually paying these people what they should be payed which I highly doubt. Also I wonder if these guys are actually putting out quality work with quality products and equipment which I also highly doubt.

Probably somewhere in “The Hood” which isn’t your client base anyways…… Work in Miami Beach or Downtown Fort Lauderdale where owners have 100+ thousand dollar cars…….. Those customers paying $100 easily just for a simple car wash and $200+ for a detail
