Hi everyone! Just wanted to jump in here and correct a mistake I made in the video. I mentioned that my best time for a 1900m open water swim was 24:50, but the correct time is actually 26:06. Apologies for the mix-up! Thanks for your understanding, and I appreciate your continued support.

I’m swimming sub 1:40 with a wetsuit in OW, or with a pull buoy in the pool. Without them I’m at 2:00. I’ve tried everything in the attempt to get my hips up, nothing works. FYI, I’m a former bodybuilder and track athlete, 5’8”, and lean.

One thing that really transformed my swimming (from 2'25'' to 1'56'') was watching the Paris games. Been swiming from 1.5 years with some little improvements, but after looking and Katie Ledecky technique and the Ian Thorpe(do), I changed my kick to a 2-beat in sync with the arm stroke, and voilá, magic happened. And besides being faster, I can swim longer at a lower HR. Consistency is a big deal, but find your style, experiment and see what is faster and easier.

Great to hear! I'm glad you've found a technique that works for you. It's good to experiment with some different techniques and ideas. I wonder where you can make that next improvement? Perhaps some Léon Marchand arms? 😂

I need to do this for biking. I can get out of the swim high up in the pack but then lose it all on the bike. We all have our weaknesses, just got to find the umph to train hard enough to improve.

Great stuff. Cycling is definitely less technical than swimming and requires a different approach for training. Perhaps it's worth looking at some cycling specific events as these might help motivation and pop some extra focus in that area? We've also got some videos on cycling if that helps: kzitem.info/door/PLZXPNgLXpsUgvDPuAmOou6bFeWHLM77tz :)

@@myprocoach123 I had a bunch planned for next year but... Ride London, cancelled. Flat 100 and Coast to Coast in 24 hours, company gone bust. London to Brighton, clashes. I've ordered my 2025 wall planner so going to look what else there is and start to book some in.

It’s nice to know that others might strugle too. I joined masters swimming course last month and I am the worst swimmer in the group. Improving with freestyle is so hard. Finding a working breathing pattern, staying relaxed, keeping your body streamlined, not working too hard, keeping all this in focus while sinking like (an old) rock. 😅 I follow your training guide on other times when I go solo, but most of the time I’m just focusing on the breathing, kicking with fins. If you are out of breath after 25m, you forget every other aspect of the front crawl.

Thanks for your comment. Great to hear that you're trying something new with the masters swimming group, that will definitely help fitness and motivation. There is plenty to try and remember in the swim, but stick with it.

This is amazing, I'm 27 now and I've started swimming over the last few months as another injured runner lol. However, I do have the goal of doing an iron man one day so It's definitely a long term target. Luckily, I love training in the morning as it sets me up for the day, and with consistency i've dropped from 2:00 per 100 for the 400m to of 1:45 in them few months. Hearing your journey and tips is great at adding belief that I can continue improving with patience! :)

@@myprocoach123 probably like you. Not when I was younger in my 50s now with kids in their teens so became necessity if I wanted to train and then just became habit.
