I have done 2 Masters in germany in chemical and process engineering field and still jobless. I'm in Germany for more than 12 years...I feel very demotivated and discouraged

which uni ? TU or applied science?

That is indeed pretty unusual... Germany is lacking lots of Engineers, it is a pretty mature industry and most germans are not even going into engineering at all... they depend on lots of foreigners for such degrees... have you applied to small town industries?

How? I just graduated and get random job proposes from Germany on LinkedIn even if I am Italian

I have 2 questions for those who already have experience or perhaps are in a similar situation. The first is whether there are teleworking options. I am interested in process control and I heard that in some places they have a hybrid modality depending on what functions they have. The other is that I finished my degree 2 years ago, and I was able to work for a year, but it was on things related to logistics. My question is, I haven't found a job for a year, and I have already tried many things to approach companies, and I was thinking about what I could do to improve my CV and have options, not necessarily in process control, but in any area or industry. Such as certifications, some skill, knowledge in X software or methodology. Currently, I am taking a six sigma course and improving my programming skills. I've thought about making a change to something data science or software related just because I couldn't find a job. And sorry if anything is spelled wrong, I'm not a native English speaker.

My question is which courses should take to transition from ChemE to Cs
@ChemicalEngineeringGuy

just learn to code, thats a good way to transition, get started with online courses, then shift to projects related to programming

Do you think it is possible to transition to CS through a master's degree if I'm a recently-graduated ChemEng? Also, do you think that AI is going to be used a lot in the Chemical Industry during the next 5 years?

pretty easily... I have a video on Masters degree... its by far one of the best ways to change your career path

And yes, AI is going to be used a lot, but it may be integrated to the tools rather than applied directly by the ChemE

Man I graduated chemical engineering in 2018 and still jobless. I wish I did software engineering because I dont know any cheme's from my class that are happy. They are all working QC jobs and barely making any money. No one is an engineer yet because all the actual engineer jobs are outsourced. Honestly gave up on finding an engineering job. Too many hoops to jump through and alot of nepotism in landing a cheme job. So yea kids, study computer science or become a content creator.

Im sorry to hear that! I think this topic needs to be addressed, or at least students should be warned. Where are you located?

ENGINEER is a person who designs, builds, or maintains engines, machines, or structures. Computer science makes you programmer not an engineer. If you love physics, maths and machines then chemical engineering is going to bring you lot of satisfaction, if you love money and lifestyle CS is pretty good. Things is, not everyone has same equation of success, the satisfaction component of success equation should be given priority in my opinion while choosing the career. Core engineering gives you opportunities to invent and innovate (the research part of core engineering - which you completely overlooked), CS can never get you there. .. just as a note I have been inspired by a generation of chemical engineers (teacher - students) of a university in my region who all have highest civilian awards of country bestowed upon them and are highly respected here, they are all researchers though but they have taught nearly all the major industrialist of country.

True, it really depend son the region. In Mexico, ChemE is still a pretty good deal. In the US, ChemE is going downfall, mostly because of the Tech Giants, hopefully it recovers soon!

wait i did this (i did not study formally, just bootcamp and self learn) but i have been in IT industry now as data analyst and is very surprised this video comes from the channel i used to see when i was a ChemE student is there a lot of ChemE switching to programming in other country? 😮

apparently! I'm not quite sure in other places, but mostly in US is a fact

Tech job market is at peak now.. there will/could be saturation now, also with the development of AI we’ve seen massive layofffs in tech jobs. Rapid dev of ai within last 2 years and also ai soft engg. With this others engg will also be affected but not as much as tech jobs. Obviously, there has also been development in generative AI in chemE field p&id recenlty.. if anything, it will only go up.

True! as stated, these are rapid changing industries, which can favor certain needs and sectors... Chemical / Traditional Industries will for sure lag and slowly adapt

@@ChemicalEngineeringGuy Hello, maybe you can help me, I am a chemical engineering student and I don't want to change careers because I like chemistry. eng. and I have dedicated a lot of effort to it, but... at my university (Colombia) they give us free subjects, so that we can train ourselves however we want, I want to enroll in two subjects for the computer science degree, but I don't know if They are related to chem eng. Those subjects are 1. data science and 2. machine learning. what do you think??
