I appreciate that you let things lie as they are sewn together. I have been sewing for nearly 68 years, and for beginners, it is extremely discouraging to expect every seam to be perfect. I was making all my clothes by the time I was 13, and my sewing teacher flunked me because I didn't have a zipper foot on my grandmother's treadle. After she told me to rip it out, I refused, so she gave me a D-! If I had allowed her to crush my ambition I wouldn't be sewing today.

I like how you used the fat quarters. I don't have a design wall, but I use the queen bed in our guest room (there's an old sheet covering the bedspread to catch threads) to lay out blocks, and change them around, if necessary. My sewing room and guest room are upstairs, so no one sees my messes!

Never seen a cutter like that... can you please tell me what it's called and where I can get it?
It is a piece of fabric 18x22 inches. It is a half yard of fabric cut in the middle. So instead of getting a 1/4 yard of fabric as a long 9 inch wide piece it is cut at 18 inches and then cut through the middle the other way to make it a fat quarter.
