Enjoyed the video. Not only that but, was stationed with then Lieutenant Denny Sapp in VA-55 aboard the USS Hancock (CVA-19) in the early 1970s; an awesome aviator and naval officer. I also recall reading about him when he was selected for and served with the Blue Angels and how proud I was to have known and served with him. Skyhawks Forever. 👍👍Hand, SALUTE.......ready, TWO.

Great video. I saw the Blues in 1983, made we want to become a Naval Aviator, which I did!

I got the bug too late, recruiter said carrier based pilots were 19-21 already. That was 94 (i was 24). Windows 95 beta, TM H.O.T.A.S. w/ CH rudders. Now I'm trying to find a good groundschool to enter Sport aviation. Cheers!!

@ChristinanathanWesterfie-pr4jj are you saying that was 1994? I was commissioned in 1993, via NROTC. Obviously you were lied to, and enlisted recruiters will lie through their teeth. I didn't carrier Qual until I was 25 years old. If you really wanted it, I would imagine you would have done more research, never quit till you were 100% denied. Sorry, but I wanted it bad and did what I had to, to make it.

@@rElliot09 Correct, I was 24 when I called the recruiter in 1994 w/o diploma nor GED. By the time I acquired my GED...to get my Batchelors to enter Officer Training, then Flight Training and finally Carrier Qualifications I would have been 29-30. I figured (like Bruce Dickinson) my band could afford my civil aviation goals. One fine day.

The shows flown in the A-4 are by far the best shows the Blues have ever performed.

I've only seen the Hornet shows, the first I saw live was Miramar in 1988 as I recall, but from the footage I've seen, the Skyhawk shows looked the most fabulously athletic. Such a nimble aircraft in every axis. I almost called it a real sports car, haha, but the truth is no sports car EVER moved like an A4. What machines, what crews, what pilots! Just the best. The shows never get old.

What a sharp guy, how he describes every fact meticulously. If this video is recent - is Captain Sapp really 80 years old???

My first time seeing the Blue Angels was in 1976 at NAS Corpus Christi Texas. Boss was Cdr. Casey Jones. I believe LT. Sapp was number 5 at the time.

@@la_old_salt2241 . Glad you enjoyed the show and loved the A4s which was and has been one of my favorite jets. It was a great air show plane for sure with the pilots flying very tight formations. I was working that air show. I was the Crew Chief of the #7 jet which was a TA-4J , a two seater. Bruce Davey was the pilot and Narrator of the show during that time. We would travel a day or two ahead of the team and made sure everything was in place for the upcoming air shows.

All I believe and nobody will change my mind, when I take a commercial flight, I want the pilots to be the best trained and most experienced qualified pilots, preferably military or Embry Riddle, and not hired because of some 2024 DEI nonsense! I want to see my loved ones again.

I enjoyed you sharing a few of your experiences flying with the Blue Angel's. I wish some one would put these great stories/ experiences in a book so I ( and others ) could enjoy them over and over again and new generations of young people could also. Thank you , keep them coming.
