These are no longer stunted growth stories. The kind of story about dudes who couldn't make it at the next level and where out of the league in a few years are the type of story I watch this channel for. Technically he could do a stunted growth story on Lebron James if he's now stretching the definition of type of story considered stunted growth... Like LeBron never won as many rings as Jordan so I guess his career is a failure right.... He gets more views doing stories on Names people recognize than on obscure names casual fans don't remember.

I always though Melo could have averaged a triple double years before Russ did. He had the rebounding and scoring, all he had to do was pass a little more, especially when double teamed. But Melo has always been about Melo. Instead of going to the Knicks in free agency, he forced his hand to be traded in a deal that saw the Knicks give up some good young talent that could have helped him win. I also think not being drafted by Detroit stunted his growth. If he had been drafted by that team full of veterans with on court and off court experience they could share with him as guidance, he may have realized that team success is what wins championships.

IMO, I believe his marriage to LaLa was a key factor in the problems as well. She always wanted to be in an area with the glitz & glam (LA, NYC, Chi Town, NOLA, etc) and not comfortable in a low-key city for the long haul (Salt Lake City, Portland, OKC, etc) and Melo wanted to keep her happy for all it was worth. Agree with a lot. 1 of his problems was being compared to LeBron, KD, too. My pops put me on game during the trio's primes last decade that since Bron brings up the ball and sets up plays he's really a PG or point forward, and therefore not comparable to the other 2. I personally felt the Knicks had almost everything they needed to compete in Melo's time, which I know you disagree with. I'm reminded of the 70s Knicks who had a lot of talent but not every big name and only really needed to mesh and to play for each other, as they said, to win. That last part is what the Melo-era Knicks lacked. They had too many knuckleheads on that team, and again, as my dad said, "they quit on Mike Woodson". I cannot lie, though: I loved watching the Knicks, back then.

@@kingrison1647 if Carmelo played with that Denver out east he would've been an automatic top 3 seed title contender,he was in a loaded western conference that had the spurs, lakers, mavs, suns, sleeper teams that were tough like utah n houston.Melo was in the same room as LeBron in the 2000's only once LeBron started winning forreal did that stop being a conversation

Great video. But I don’t see how stunt #1 isn’t being drafted by the Detroit Pistons where there was a prime Chauncey Billups who he saw his best success with and a veteran team. Where I think had a strong likelihood of winning a couple rings and that would have definitely altered his perception and legacy.

Right? That's gotta be #1 to me; that's a trajectory defining difference right there. I'd say even kobe having those vets early on helped mold him even though he was a straight loner.

I don't think Melo's growth was stunted, people just have too much expectation of him because he was compare to LeBron always. Also I admire his mindset of having a team on his own and try to win with it rather than having A KD like career.

Melo was more concerned about him getting his points not team wins. His former teammate Mr big shot C. Billups said it Melo would rather score 30 and loose then score 20 and win. Him not wanting J Lin on the Knicks shows he was selfish and wanted the spotlight for himself

Chancey Billups NBA champion and finals mvp and former teammate and was right about Carmelo Anthony and that's why his ego took him out league wouldn't come off bench and care about scoring and not playing defense and making teammates better Video clip in Olympics of Kobe Bryant the leader saying to teammates we need to get up at 5am to work out Carmelo Anthony said I wasnt getting up at 5am Showing why Carmelo Anthony ain't no NBA champion level player 0 rings as a leader on teams

He deserves this episode. Or he should be at least listed as a stunt to Melos career. Melos contract is mentioned as reason why the knicks couldn't build around him but he was worth every penny. Meanwhile Amare ate up 1/3 of the cap to take wine baths.

Great talent. But never had the right team around him, nor mindset to lead a team to the chip. Imagine if Melo won a ring in NY. He'd be in goat conversations. Do you look at he and KD's career different, even though an argument can be made that Melo could've won with GS too!

When you don't get excited about playing defense the way you do about scoring AND you're getting all this money AND you're on teams where many move and think similar to you and your attitude about the game of basketball....a championship is likely never going to come to fruition.
