If we didn’t have media like this, so much history and tradition would be lost to the sands of time. Thank you Ryan for sharing this with us.

I was on the USS RANGER (CV61) when the then Captain Less became commanding officer. He was a joy to work for.

My most favorite Blue Angels aircraft used are the A-4 Scooter, I loved that aircraft it looked like a sports car in the sky. Second was the Phantom so big and powerful, so awesome and third is the F11 Tiger it was almost as nimble as the Scooter.

In 1969 the Blue Angels came to NAS Albany Ga. My step dad was in charge of their security detail and invited them over to our house for dinner. I got to meet all of them and got a signed poster from them. It was a really cool experience.

I know a guy who lived in the Imperial Valley (California) in the early 1970s. He told me that he joined some classmates in ditching school for a day in spring 1973. They obtained some beer and headed out toward the Navy base in El Centro to watch the Blue Angels pilots practice their precision flight exercises. As the boys looked on, they witnessed one of the jets crash and burn. They raced to the crash site, but there was nothing they could do to rescue the pilot. He said he wished he hadn't seen it. RIP to the pilot.

Thank you for bringing so many memories back. I was stationed at VX-5 China Lake in 1978 and had the privilege to work with the A-4M and TA-4J's. Then I was sent to VA-174 Det El Centro and we were able to watch the Blue Angles flying the A-4 over the airfield twice a day as they flew the program over the field to practice before their shows started. Now for a question for all the Sailors and Blue Angles fans about any information about the Blue Angles when they were flying I believe the F-6F Wildcats, but it could have been the Bearcats. Back in the 60's when I was a child my Grandparents farm was North of NATTC Millington. All I know is a Blue Angles plane crashed in the woods on my Grandparents farm in Tipton County. Does anyone have any information about this crash?

I saw both the Thunderbirds at Painfield and the blue Angels at Sandpoint in F4 phantom‘s and I remember that crash. Of course I was a big F4 fan and I thought this is a 4? it’s not gonna do shit but I was wrong. Great video.

The blue paint is what made the A-4 a hit with the crowds. You could see the airplane much easier. The F-4 you could hear coming. The Air Force went to T-38's and you couldn't see the airplane very well.

The Admiral stated that the A-4 lasted 13 years in tge demonstratiin arena. I am not sure that he was acquainted with the Naval Reserve Flight Demonstration team "The Air Barons" that because of a reorg in tge Naval Reserve ceased flying in 1971. They were flying A-4s from Glenview Naval Air Station then the HQ of CNAVRES.

What also saved them is that the French were hyperactive, Italians ready, therefor the US had no choice but to foot the bills :)
