This is the official 2020 Disney Christmas ad mate and it features the Filipino themed Christmas. You see the grandmother was teaching the grandaughter how to make a parol (star) which is how our Christmas tradition is unique. The parol symbolizes the star that the 3 kings followed to the manger where Jesus was born. It also symbolizes light & hope for all Filipinos this Christmas. Thank you Disney❤️ Thank you for your reaction.. It is really important to keep the Filipino Christmas tradition alive wherever we are accross the world❤️ Maligayang Pasko Sa Inyong Lahat🎄🎄🎄🌟🌟🌟

Yes! Haha, I thought the same, Ilocos. However, in the 40s, a lot of the small towns looked Spanish like that. It’s just that in Ilocos, they preserved the old scenery for tourism. So, technically, that could have been any town back then. I love the ad, but I love even more to see someone from a different country like yourself, understand the commercial so fully just like a Filipino would. I don’t know if we say it enough on this channel, but thank you, Kevo for appreciating our culture. 🇵🇭❤️

Loa means grandmother in the Philippines. Lola called her father "Tatay" means Daddy/Father. The lanterns means "Parol" and its a tradition to make one every Christmas in the Philippines. I remember in school we used to make a small one and hang it inside our classroom. I'm humbled with our Philippine culture.

No, I think that is in Manila somewhere near Quiapo church....the thing is, before the Japanese invasion in world war II, the Philippines is like any other European country, cities and towns are heavily influenced by Spanish architectures, that's the reason why the Philippines was once called "The Paris Of Asia" because of its non Asian culture, architecture, language, and beautiful European style buildings, houses, churches, roads, bridges and etc. which were build by legendary Spanish and Italian Artists and engineers. Fun fact, Manila was the 2 most destroyed city in the world after Warsaw in Poland. After the war the Americans started to rebuild the country, but decided to remove most of it's Spanish and European architecture and replaced them with more American standard architecture...which you can see today in present time.

It taken place in the Philippines. Here in the Philippines, usually the spirit of Christmas starts in September, even as early on August and it can extend into January or February. We are the one who has the longest celebration of Christmas, by the end of All Saints Day, we usually start decorating Christmas decors and you will hear some people singing Christmas songs where you have to give them something in return if you are that generous. We also have Simbang gabi or "Night Mass", night mass can be literally a night mass or a midnight mass but traditionally it's a midnight mass, after the midnight mass or Simbang Gabi, you can eat bibingka (Bibingka only appeared and remembered during this special occasion but you can buy bibingka every night during Christmas Season Sept.-Dec. and after midnight mass). There are many of their parents leaving their children behind to work overseas. That's why they are growing up with their Grandmothers ("Lola" in Tagalog, that's why there's "To Lola" in the Christmas Card). The kid does show respect to their elders by "Mano Po" (Mano or pagmamano is an "honoring-gesture" used in Filipino culture performed as a sign of respect to elders and as a way of requesting a blessing from the elder. Similar to hand-kissing, the person giving the greeting bows towards the hand of the elder and presses their forehead on the elder's hand.) Parol is a Filipino ornamental lantern that is typically displayed during the Christmas season. The parol evokes the Star of Bethlehem, which guided the Three Kings to the nativity of Jesus. It is an iconic symbol of Filipino Christmas.

What makes this very Filipino. 1. vendor voice selling "balut" 2. The church -it feels like the "simbang gabi" vibes 3. Jeepney & kalesa ( Vigan like inspired setting) 4. The Philippine flag (1940 war so it is reversed) 5. "Mano po" Filipino values. (showing respect) 6. "Lola" means grandma 7. The iconic Filipino Christmas lantern called "PAROL"
