Seems like there was a lot of confusion among the Christians themselves. There also seems to be a power struggle within the factions of this new ideology. It doesn’t look like there was any real functional body until Rome decided to make it the official state religion.

How likely is it that: Simon of Samaria was a faith healer who scammed rich Greeks? Simon created christian christianity and associated a Galilean Jew with Simon's christ character? And that anti-gnostic Greek christians co-opted Simon to create their Saul/Paul character?

understanding simon of samaria and marcion of sinope will unlock the mysteries and the missing datas and facts about the start and rise of christianity in the first century... that the church unknowingly erased when they deliberately tried to eradicate simon and marcion's teachings and legacies

All of that is lost forever, for reasons we probably will never know. What is surprising is that even people writing in the 2nd century had no better information than we have today, and were left to speculate as wildly as people still do today.

Simon Magus = Jesus. Thats why he's called a blasphemer. He becomes the face of Christian Gnosticism to separate Gnosticism from Christianity. Jesus was not killed; the Emperor had him taken to Rome. The emperor did this with other popular magicians. "Acts" dismisses Magus because Christians were hearing Jesus was alive in Rome.
