After 3 months of magnificent discovery in France, here we are in Andorra. We know absolutely nothing of this country except that it is one of the smallest of Europe.
We enter the country by the northeast by leaving the Pyrenees ariégeoises. We are on November 9th and the snow is already there. We cross the border and pass in the city of Pas de la Case. We continue to climb and we stop to fill up with fresh air to 2408m.
The cars that we follow and the luxury hotel zones remind us well that we are in a small tax haven. We stop to picnic at the edge of the road before arriving at Andorra the old one. This evening we sleep at Yolanda's, a woman that we contacted on Couchsurfing. Not being immediately available she tells us to come to her job to give us the keys of her apartment.
The next day, place to the discovery! We ride Falkor and we take off through the valleys of the north. The villages that we cross and that we visit give us a feeling of travel in the time. More especially that with our armors of knight we match well with the decoration.
We pass from the quietness of villages to the agitation of the capital in an instant and we discover its center where every square meter is optimized to display pubs, it puts a little the dizzy.
The next day, we already leave this mini country which will have made us rediscover the city life. We pass our 3rd border by following a magnificent road and we land in the north of Spain. We look for the heat and we flee the mountain for softer latitudes.
We have 400km to make to discover the famous desert of Bardenas. Today we will ride during 5 hours towards the southwest. What is cool it is that indeed temperatures go up a little while going towards the south but the problem of going towards the west it is to be totally blinded by the sun during all the afternoon.
All our things are soaked but we motivate ourselves, we fold camp and we take again the road direction the desert of Bardenas. We have been advised a lot but we have no idea of how it is, or of how we have to visit it.
We see then a panel and we begin to explore the south of the park. After the south of the park, we discover the main entrance. We dry our tent soaked of the day before and lend our tools to a French cyclist in galley. In exchange he gives us the map of the park... and here we are, we know where we are, and we discover that we can make a big loop of 50km through the park
Well we are in Spain, but it continues to make really fresh. A cousin of Natha lives in Madrid, then we ride Falkor and we fly towards the center of the country.
We cross again the south of the park, then we join the civilization. We have 400km to ride but we decide to take our time and to make some stops on the road.
Arrived in the capital, we try to find our Airbnb in the northwest of the city. A broken road offers us a beautiful panorama on the enormous towers of the city center and after some round-trips and bad direction we are at the yurte.
We will also have the chance to visit Chinchón, a typical village at 1 hour from Madrid and which is known for its numerous Hollywood shooting.
After one week of beautiful discovery and resourcefulness in family, we are ready to continue our road always by following our imaginary compass which leads us towards the west. But all that is another story.
