Slower flyers like that one just look more realistic. It has the appearance way closer to scale speed. I really like that plane.

Im with you. Part of it is the size too. Larger models tend to present more scale since the relative speed appears slower due to the size.

The model I received was an early sample provided for evaluation. As such, I Unfortunately didn’t take any footage of the assembly assuming there would be notable differences with the final offering. I wish had gone ahead and run the camera during assembly. Lesson learned I guess.

Landing gear have a lot of toe-in on mine. How's yours?
@Thercgeek
2 жыл бұрын
If you fully tighten the landing gear, they will tow in without any washers or anything. You’ll need to use a lot of loctite, set the gear straight, and then let it cure. That’s what I did on mine. I had recommended some thin shims be included in the kit for that, guess that didn’t make it in.

Great looking and flying plane! They have a 1400 mm available now. Wondering if it could be my first balsa plane?
@Thercgeek
Жыл бұрын
If you are a proficient flyer, I’m sure you’d do just fine with it. Balsa tends to fly a little better than foam imo. It’s more rigid.

so are the wings solid one piece each top and bottom... is the landing gear made with an actual oleo strut or just plastic parts to look that way. the page reviews state one buyer could not get the servos to center and the rudder didnt fit right out of the box.. any thoughts
@Thercgeek
2 жыл бұрын
The wings are removable. Upper wing is three pieces, lower wing two pieces. Also, the gear are indeed oleos. They’re a bit stiff, but they are shock absorbing. On the servos and such, I didn’t have any issues there personally. Fit and all that was pretty good.

Need a wood prop for it dude....😋. So, you'll fly a old biplane and WW2 bombers but not a 737 super max (AL37 from Motion RC). You're missing out man. Love landing that thing and riding a wheelie with the nose wheel just hanging up there...lol. Just break balls. Have fun, Chris!

I noticed no wing flying wires/cables in the video. My question is were the outboard wing strut metal bracket inserts glued in? Otherwise I assume it would not be safe to fly.

Yeah, I wasn’t about to install all that rigging, haha! Also, yes on flying in the brackets. I used 30minute epoxy all around to glue all of that in.

@Thercgeek

No prep needed really other than ensuring the balsa surface is smooth and clean. There is a material that helps the oracover to adhere a little better (can’t remember the name), but it’s not required. Just cover over the bare wood.

Great video. Thanks a lot Chris. I have the ARF sitting in my garage and I'm just wondering which motor to put in her. Was your flight on the stock Dancing Wings motor? If so, did you feel it had pretty much unlimited vertical? I noticed in the user manual they recommend: Motor :MO3520 600-900KV. Sounds like a lot of KV...
@Thercgeek

Interesting about the motor. A tomcat G60 motor was sent with this one. I’m not sure if that was part of the final offering though. It’s a great setup in there with a 15x10 prop.

Hey Chris, I'm just building one of those. Great job! How the heck did you screw the plastic landing gear cowlings on? I found there's nothing but balsa to screw into :-(
@Thercgeek
2 жыл бұрын
So, once you’ve placed the screws, back them all out, hit each hole with thin ca and then screw them back in. That will harden up the balsa and give the screws hardened material to bite.
