I was in Tanzania for 3 months and I was paying something like $2 for a tiny cup of weak and tasteless coffee after lunch… the hotel serves Nescafé classic and I was yearning for a good cup of joe… one of the street vendors sent me to a market in kinondoni and there was this old Chinese gentleman selling coffee… he roasted the beans whilst I waited and he told me his life story… while I drank the coffee with him… he charged $1 for the coffee but it was better than any coffee I’ve tasted in my entire life… before I left to go home I had to have one more cupa… when I returned 2 years later with the bosses… I hired him to keep the coffee flowing at an event… he made over $8000 in tips that evening… your video reminded me of such a good person…
Why in the world is coffee selling for $1-2 a cup in TANZANIA!!!

In case anybody is interested, this barista most likely won’t have used fresh roasted beans on the daily as it’s best to let roasted beans rest for at least a couple of weeks due to co2 gas being released. Perfection takes time, I work at a cafe that does 150kg coffee a day. You tell me your late or how long. I tell the team to delay X order lol

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on our part my friend. Wake up earlier or make your own coffee at home, if you get to a café and there is a queue you're not going to be bumped up.

Shouldn't beans sit for around 2w after roasting?
@sir_pattington1894

Is it two weeks? I give them three days to de-gas but I have heard that mileage may vary. But honestly if you don’t mind the possible harsh aftertaste of remnant CO2, fresh out of the roaster can taste amazing.

@@sir_pattington1894 interesting. I've never roasted beans myself nor do I know of more nuances to it. Just going off the advice I was given by my local roaster.
