I have 4 of the Dayton RSS210HO woofers and they are amazing. Tuned to 31 hz, in my room, -3db at 18 hz.

I have one of those, except its in 50l with two slot ports(@30Hz) also has a pair of the same Reference series 7" mids and large format Wavecor tweeters... it's a big 4 foot long BT speaker for my woodwork shop "works great"😏 I'd have to say out of all the subs I've built it has the best smooth response with great control. It would be interesting to hear it with some cabin gain!

I have the 8” Reference. I am still building a glovebox enclosure. It will be paired with a UM15 in a sealed box. Eventually the 15 will be IB. I have mentioned in the Inexpensive group and the RTA In Cars group that my 15 in the sealed box has a nasty hole around 55-75hz. The plan is to use the 8” to fill the hole, and allow me to tune the frequency range. For some reason the 15 does not respond to any EQing in that range.

frequency response is very good up to 2k you can maybe have a 2 way with a steep crossover using dsp or 3 way

I think I have the passive radiators using those cones. I'm a bit crazy and used 3 for a single UM10 to tune to 18-19Hz. Was a fun box. Now I run IB thanks to your videos. ❤ What's the benefit of shorting rings?

Shorting rings reduces coil inductance and distorsion. Put it simple a driver with shorting rings will sound cleaner.

Was Hertz MPS 250 S4 a part of short listing? If not may I know the reason why ?

That subwoofer was eliminated very early due to many parameters that didn't fit the bill. Yes, it is designed to work in extremely small enclosures, but that's pretty much it. It has a massive coil to increase power handling but the inductance of almost 4mH is a big no no. Moving mass of over 200g is massive for a 10in sub. No mentioning of shotting rings and at that price tag, I can't justify buying it. The ONLY reason to consider it is extremely shallow mounting depth.

Hi, Between hertz mps 250 s2 and alpine r2 w10 d4 what do you think it will sound better mounted in a sealed box ? what is your opinion on r2 line of subwoofers ?
@RAW-CAt

Don't have any personal experience with any of those, but based on Alpines reputation, especially with Type R subwoofers, the r2 would be amazing.

What is difference between spl for both speakers when you measure but do not add spl offset.
@RAW-CAt

Obviously the Dayton is less sensitive and needs more power. Power is not an issue. Unfortunately I can't answer your question, as my SPL is not calibrated in REW🤷🏻♂️

@@RAW-CAt I do need SPL from 1w, but what was difference between two measurements in this same volume.
@RAW-CAt

@@kondrax85 can't say, as measurements were taken weeks appart on different levels.
