I think Isla had a wonderful time with her dad. Maybe a little relunctant and hesitant at first, but after she started participating more, she seemed to love ❤️ it! What an awesome father/ daughter experience that was for both of them. I think this will be memories that will last a lifetime! That's awesome. I love the way dad always put her needs first making sure she was safe and comfortable and she seemed much older and wiser than her ten years! Great video! Thank you! 💕

I'm a 59 year old woman, and watching this reminds me of the camping and fishing trips I had with my dad. Later, when I turned 14, we even went deer and elk hunting. I was 5 years old when I caught and gutted my first fish. Now days, it seems, they won't even let 8 year olds handle scissors unless they are those rounded 'tip' kind. :P

This brings back memories of me and my Dad, as I was growing up thru the years. I loved him so MUCH as a young girl and woman. He'd do the sweetest things for me, and taught me to be a wise and good person. He worked a lot to take care of our family of seven, but when he was off work, he enjoyed us kids. I have a lifetime of times that he spent with just me. Those memories are still with me, even though he's not. I ALWAYS told my father, "I will love you forever." And I do. God knows how much I miss him. Keep making great memories. You're a wonderful and special father. Anyone can see how much you love your daughter. That's precious.✝️🤗♥️

You are an amazing dad. My father is deceased, he passed away from Covid the day before his birthday, in 2021. I'm still grieving. I would've loved to do things like this with him. He struggled with drugs most of my life, but he ended up getting help, and was clean for 12 years before he passed. So he didn't do recreational things with me. Although he lived in the house with me all of my life, he was there for me despite his drug use. And I'm very thankful for that! Even through the tough times he went through, I would NEVER trade him for no one! Your daughter is very blessed to have you as a father.. I hope she cherish these moments, bc a lot of ppl would do anything to have a loving father in their lives... R.I.P Dad🕊️

What IS she interested in? Is there any sort of middle ground or compromise you can make? You’d be surprised, sometimes when people get into nature..they realize they really wish they’d opened up to it sooner. Maybe there is some sort of middle ground where you two could dip your toes in. For instance, I really really really love science or space. So any outing which included that was something I was always consistently and considerably more stoked for than just a camping trip. Even one of those can be played right, if we went somewhere where light pollution was especially low, or during a time where we could get an extra clear view of some seriously cool astronomical event. Sometimes it doesn’t need to even be a direct thing. For instance, let’s say your daughter is super into equestrian things. You could take her to Assateague or Chincoteague Virginia, where they have wild horses that you can watch on the beaches and wildlife, and they do this big swim across every year where they heard the horses to swim across the bay for auction for some of the fowls. This, for a majority, included camping at some of the local camp grounds or on parts of the beach where you can camp. The camping would be a second hand thing. The wildlife part of it wouldn’t be the main goal, as it would to go see hundreds of horses professionally herded and swam across a bay and corralled. Anything like that where her interests are included too.

She was like a sister to me. I knew her since I was 16 years old. I am now 57. Her husband, my big brother, and only brother, have raised 3 great kids. In northern Minnesota. They all love the outdoors. What you are now doing with your daughter will be with her for the rest of her life. For us to be lucky enough to raise our families in areas like this is priceless. Keep up the good work, keep your family involved. Life is very short.

Loved that you are exposing your daughter to the great outdoors and how to survive in adverse conditions. I did the same w/ my son. He hated it as a kid. We alternated between camping out in the woods & going to major cities. He learned how to light a fire, set up camp, find water, ride the subway, handle vagrants, picking restaurants, etc. Now he's in the military & living in Europe. He took his camping equipment with him to spend time in the Black Forrest & also to bum around the capitols. He's ready for it all.

20 years ago, June 1st my daughter was born. We had a canoe/fishing trip planned for June 5th! My wife insisted we don't cancel our plans so my girl was 4 days old on her first bush experience! I can honestly say I raised my children in a canoe. Practice and education is critical to survival. My son and his best friend were paddling for 8 weeks in the north during the pandemic. They had an inreach and contacted me regularly so I wasn't worried. They are well trained and always over prepared. Keep educating and exposing your children to the wilderness, they will thrive. Thanks for your content Jay!
