I do have one question, and you may have answered it in the video and i missed it but, what does the system do if it gets conflicting commands from each of the receivers? Like if one of the receivers is somehow telling the elevator to move but the other one isn't? How are conflicts handled?

Good topic. Do you bind both receivers on the same receiver number? In OpenTX, can I bind a 2.4 SR8 as primary, and a 900mHz R9MX as secondary. Internal and external modules are used. (Or bind using different Rx numbers?)

It’s been so long since I did this video i honestly don’t remember exactly what I did. I want to say YES for the same receiver number. As far as using an SR8 and a 900 I’m almost positive that cannot be done. You have to select external module or internal module. I believe you can’t have both active or automatically switch for you. Not 100% sure but pretty sure you can’t.

@@UngluedModeler it does work on both receivers at the same time. The problem is you can't use a stab receiver. After unplugging and replugging the stabilized receiver, the receiver goes through a self-test and the servos flip end to end which would be disasters in the air. My bigger concern is what current capacity does a SR pro receiver have because running 8 to 10 servos on a gaser, could draw as much as 20 plus amps.

I've done more bench testing; Two serious problems; 1) RB10 has a problem when used with a stabilized rx. The servos exercise after repowering which may be a disaster while flying. That is why FrSky sells RB units with built in stabilized function. (RB25-S) It seems the S type receivers have different output directions to standard receivers, regardless whether or not the stab function is on or off, there for not usable in a redundant setup using an RB10 redundancy bus. 2) When testing, using both an X10S Express OpenTX or an X20S Ethos radio; Attempting to use redundancy on a new gas airplane. R8 Pro and R9M receivers, and an RB10 (V171010) The latest firmware on ISRM and V2.1.14 and V1.3.2 on the receivers. Without fail, while all connected and working perfectly, if I unplug R8, re-plug R8, then unplug R9M; The RB10 LED goes red and I lose all control. Then I re-plug R9M and get back control. I tried this with both radios, exact same problem. THEN I switched the R8 Pro with a Archer R6. Problem SOLVED ! I believe there is a FW issue with the R8 Pro. I tried every FW back to V2.1.9, no change. If I eliminate the RB10, the problem goes away. If I try an SR8 Pro, with the “S” turned off, same problem + some of the channels reverse when the R9M is unplugged !!!! Definitely not an option. All I want is a usable setup for a gas airplane yet I still can't find one. The SR10 Pro if available would likely have bean the answer.

Well done. Question, if I were to have two satellite receiver, do you think using Y servo cable will work
@UngluedModeler
2 жыл бұрын
Hmm interesting idea. So do you mean a normal receiver for #1 but then for receiver #2 you would split it with a Y harness? So basically if Rx1 loses signal it will kick over to the Rx2 side which would be two satellites operating together on a Y harness? Interesting. Might be worth a try!!
@Didi-dd7xt

Yes, would it work ? maybe it is less likely to have 2 satellite receiver fails at the same time
@UngluedModeler
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I really don’t know if that would work. I agree two satellites are better than one lol. But I think because it would be on a Y harness is where I would have my doubts. If they were separate inputs then I would say yes. Worth a try I guess! Except I don’t have any more satellite receivers hahah

Not a Y lead but you can connect the 2 receivers via the S BUS connection. You will have redundancy receiver system but obviously not the second backup battery. Search YOU TUBE for videos for how to do it.

Sweet. Wise decision too, especially on a decent sized model that's expensive, plus the safety factor too so there's far less chance of an out of control model crashing into possibly people or property.

Yes exactly! Bind two receivers up. Choose telemetry ON for RX #1 and then telemetry OFF for RX#2. The XM+ is a perfect full range satellite rx.

Since the XM+ is w/o telemetry, it does not matter if it is set with telemetry by mistake. Right ?

I don't know I did not try. But it's extremely easy to set it to Telemetry OFF when you bind up. There is a selection to bind up with telemetry ON or OFF right before you start the bind sequence.

Yes. It asks you if you want telemetry on or off. Just choose OFF when you bind up the XM+
