You need both a module and antenna: (Let me know if you find them somewhere else and I will add them. They are hard to find) geni.us/HorusBluetooth geni.us/HorusBTAntenna This makes the X-Lite an even better radio: geni.us/FrSkyXLite Or the QX7S comes with with the Bluetooth already installed: geni.us/TaranisQX7S

Thanks for showing that its possible to do this mod. Modified my 2 x-lites this way and am happy to report that the operation went well - despite not having a fine tip for my soldering iron ;) (don't know where it went, i really need to clean my bench...). A note to others who might try this. One of my radios worked perfectly as showed in the video, no issues. On the 2nd one however, the local address refused to show up. Double checking and redoing my solder job did not do anything. The solution was to go into the systems menu and set the bluetooth to trainer (as shown in this video), and leave it on even though the local address didn't show up. And THEN go into the normal setup menu and set trainer function to Master/BT. After you to that there should pop up a [init] sub-option, and clicking that fixed the local address problem. (if the local address is already showing up, then the [init] button will be replaced by a [discover] button.) Now that doesn't mean that a bad BT-module install/bad solder job will not result in similar problem, but try this if the local address doesn't immediately show up before tearing down the radio again to get to the BT module.

I know it is an old video and comment, but I did the mod in my radio and the address didn't show up. I followed your instructions and I do see the [init] button in the setup menu, but nothing happens when I click on it. I re-opened the radio and checked the soldering and nothing... do you have another tip?

DroneRacer101 - My kids are all adults now, but whenever we get together invariably the conversation gets around to “Remember that time we helped Dad...” While I recall the sometimes moaning and complaining that this is hard work or it’s too hot outside to work; but the things they remember are the stuff they learned and the fun they had doing something and the enjoyment from working with their Dad. Makes it all worth it to me. Get them involved in what you do and you’ll reap a lifetime of rewards for doing so.

I connected a SBus receiver to the Module Bay Pins of my Q X7S and it worked. In the Model Settings I selected Master/sbus instead of Master/Bluetooth or Master/Jack. Pinout on Q X7S from bottom to top, on x-lite from right to left : SPort,GND,Batt,Sbus(Heartbeat),PPM.

Thanks for the video really helpful. Have you used the telemetry function? I soldered in the module and can see it on my phone but it wont accept either 0000 or 1234 as a passcode? Tried a couple of phones. But no luck.

Well done. What would be awesome would be a hack to be able to to a wired trainer. Or a way to link a wired trainer port on another radio to a bluetooth module so it could link to trainer on the X-Lite. (I fly most of my drones on the X-lite and am active in an FPV club - would be good if I could give new people a chance to fly without having to re-bind craft to a separate radio that has trainer set up).
@SimRacer101

That is just going to be easier with a different radio with a trainer port built in. Or a second x-lite
@ArchmageAU
5 жыл бұрын
@@SimRacer101 Rebinding to a second radio is not that hard and is the easiest way to go (at this stage). Would be nice if could get a PPM trainer function working on the X-lite without the bluetooth (as you have shown it is quite fiddly to install). Maybe something could be done with the module connection and an XM or XM+ RX. This would likely require an upgrade to the X-lite firmware. There is an option for SBUS trainer on the Taranis X9D that uses this (and pins 2,3,4 on the connection bay). - www.instructables.com/id/Simple-Taranis-X9D-Wireless-Trainer-Using-SBUS-Rec/

I asked them about it after it came out and they said it was optional. It's very obviously designed to be installed this way. I would have gladly paid an extra $5-$10 for this which is all it should have cost from the factory.

4:17... Way too much heat applied to that small pad. :EEK: You should also really need to think about using Flux or Flux cored solder. Solder does not "string" or make a "cold joint" if flux is used. Good basic info none the less.
