This is my summer dorm room at FSU!
I haven't had the chance to make a video on here in a while because I have literally been so busy! FSU has been amazing and I am so glad I picked it in the end! The people are great, the campus is beautiful, and there is always something going on, so you are always busy. I'm here for summer right now, staying Reynolds, so I am only taking two classes, so the workload there has been super light.
More information:
Dorm Life- Living on campus is an excellent experience; you meet so many people through social events hosted by the halls and just being around so many residents. No matter where you are living, you will befriend people in other halls, don't even think that you won't! The suite style dorms, as I said, are very spacious, and customizable in that you can add a lot and move things around. I am in a double, but I have been in a triple and a single and they have about the same share of a room (i.e. you aren't getting jipped with a triple, however you are sharing with two people so you might feel like it, and singles do, of course, look like they have slightly more room, but its all roughly equal.) The walls are a bit thin, no matter where you go, so you do hear the people in the hall and vice versa. The RAs tend to be super friendly, and they will hang out sometimes. Every floor has a kitchen and bathroom that you can use (suite or community - suite has just one tub/shower, toilet, and sink. I have not been in a community dorm yet so I cannot give much information there). All halls have a laundry room, rec room, lounge, and desk area where your RAs sit. You can rent cleaning supplies, kitchen supplies, games, etc. so its very useful.
Dining - I had a block meal plan, so the number of times I could go to Suwanne or Fresh Foods was limited, but I have A LOT of excess meals. Unlimited is great if you like to stop in for a snack, but if you have food in your room, you will be okay. You can pay with flex bucks to get into the halls. The other options are great to, really all of the on campus food is great, versatile, and convenient. You can get by without a meal plan, but it really depends on how you eat and how often you eat. Either way, you get a lot of options if you will eat anything. The staff can be a bit... anal? They don't like when you sneak food out and you will get yelled at if you just grab the slice of pizza or cookies with your hands... Just be clean okay? Other than that, they're really nice and often funny! Ms. Killings will tell you that she loves you and you will feel special!
Campus - I come from Florida, like most FSU students, and hills were new to me. It makes walking a bit more tedious but, hey, no Freshman 15 that way! Its gorgeous walking around campus, I will often wander around between classes and get to know the area more. Every Wednesday is Market Wednesday and students set up booths to sell things. Its really awesome and should definitely be checked out! Everything, for the most part, is brick, so keep that in mind when describing a building. Landis is beautiful to lay out and chill. A lot of activities take place out there and its basically the center point of campus. Beware of crazed bikers and long/penny/skateboarders because they sometimes creep up on you. Just be aware of your surroundings and don't go out by yourself at night (guy or girl) its very... dark and sketchy no matter where you are. The Union is another center point of campus and has food places, UPS, Club Downunder bowling, and paint-a-pot (the last two are the best places to spend an evening or afternoon!).
