Nice vid! As a side note and having a bit of a different perspective on things, due to space limitations, I have all of my equipment stacked. On my FT-2000 sits an antenna tuner and on top of my amp, I've got my SWR/Pwr meter. Just another opinion (mine), that's all. When I eventually get around to it, I'll probably make a metal or wooden cabinet to house each piece of equipment, but until then, it's going to be stacked.

actually there is nothing wrong with stacking, but I would use a type of cloth or towel to use between the stacking to prevent scratching of equipment. I also used to stack and still do at times but I use protection between the stacks, best 73 DE KD6SBR, Tom in NV

I totally agree with you Tom, I've been looking for a clean FT2000 and they have these units for sale with dirt and dust all over them. And you're right about the tops being all scratched up. What's wrong with these people spending good money on these units and neglect them so much. It's a shame.

Great video! I found mine last year at our local hamfest. A guy upgraded from his FT2000 to flex6300. Immaculate condition and snagged it for 700. Amazing radio. And I always clean my radios before I sell also. I don’t understand people that post dirty and dusty photos. You’re likely to get more money if it’s clean.

if you want a really super sounding receive put both vfo's on the same freq/band what a major sound,, I also got a used one that looks and works as new, even smells new!!!!

thanks for the advice but that defeats the purpose of dual vfo's, thanks anyway.

What's interesting with the ft2000 if you plug in a headset you can hear can hear the vfos on each seperate ear, a on left and b on right. The listing for my r7100 they sold like three but only shows one, have an upconverter so can listen to HF. I'd rather import radios from Japan or try to find one through ham club listings rather dealing with eBay sellers now. Any like blockages on bands or not? Whoever owned it before you took damn good care of it. You're likely the second owner.

Yes I found that out too with headphones about the ft-2000, and as far as taking care of it, I am doing the same and have a shelf over it and nothing can come in contact with the face and covers. I also try to take as best care of my equipment as possible. Thanks for your comment, 73 de KD6SBR, NV

Hi there Tom. Great video thanks.. I have just received my FT-2000 from our local Radio World 3 days ago and am loving it. I am a SWL who is studying for my licence at the moment. My question is, are you doing anything different to vfo b other than putting a different band in for both vfo's to have good audio and signal strength...When I input a band on vfo b it will loose it's signal... what am I missing please 🙏 Best 73's fr the uk 🇬🇧

Hello from NV, USA! Well I did NOT do anything special, same as when I had my Icom IC-7600! IT COULD BE YOUR ANTENNA? I am using wire (see below) The radio (s) loose sensitivity after spreading out past around 5 OR MORE mhz. SAY I can listen to different bands like 20M AND STILL listen in on San Francisco ARINC 8.843 USB with no issues of course you do loose some signal but not much at all IMO, *** BUT NOW on the lower freq say 10 mhz and below that spread is larger. It may help also that I am currently using an WIRE inverted VEE temporarily at this location. I used to have A beam at my other station when I lived in Ca. (KD6SBR ON QRZ.COM, MY OLD STATION) and really did not notice that much of a difference though. Is you are using a "band specific" antenna that may be the issue but I can't be positive. What is your current setup, ALSO MAKE SURE you do not have "ATT" ON. As I type this I am currently listening to VFO A:14.240 MHZ (20M) AND VFO B: 8.843 with no issues, let me know your setup maybe I can help further, GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE ON YOUR TEST! 73 de KD6SBR Tom in NV, USA

Who told you that this radio is dual receive in the same band only? Where is this written?

Who told me? , no one told me. BUT it is In the owners manual, and brochures when the radio came out. "Dual Receive on same Band" P41, "Dual Receive" does that help you?

@@lt4324 You said ONLY. The manual says that it is able to work dual band on the same band. Because most radios can not do it. Many dual band receivers, can receive on different bands. This one can do it also on the same. Not ONLY on the same.
