One ftm transguy told me that me that after transition it was much more easier to get people's attention. They would listen to you and agree with you more easily..
@DestructoPop

That's so real. I pass about half the time now, and people treat me hella different. The most meaningful difference is in expert environments... I'm an IT specialist. I regularly got talked down to by clients as a contractor or customers as a store IT rep. I don't get that anymore. People respect my advice and help. It's a trip. I try and talk to cis people about it online, I think it's an important perspective to share. The biggest difference, though, is how I'm treated on public transportation. Bus drivers are guarded but polite, whereas before they were open and a little overpolite. Stranger men used to sit RIGHT next to me with other spaces open, usually manspreading into my legspace. Now if guys sit next to me, it's because the bus is full, and NO ONE has tried to manspread into my legspace at all. I no longer make female friends at every bus stop (I've always said that instead of a resting bitch face, I have a resting "tell me your life story" face). I haven't been followed off the bus since I started transitioning, which had become a common issue for me. Once, a group of guys were speaking a foreign language I happen to be conversational in, and I heard them say "Let's get off wherever this (girl) gets off and follow her. See if she's scared." They did, and they walked with me for a block before I turned around and said "you know, I could understand you on the bus. Get lost." In the language. That spooked them and they turned around and walked back to the bus stop. Another guy followed me from a different bus stop all the way to my apartment complex, a guy who would regularly 'flirt' in the bus, (by which I mean he would touch me in romantic but not openly sexual ways until I told him not to touch me and said he was "barking up the wrong tree", after which point he wouldn't touch me but he'd still force flirty conversation, even waving his hand between me and my book to get my attention when I was wearing headphones. The book was ABOUT TRANSITIONING FEMALE TO MALE.), And when we got to the entrance of the apartment complex before mine, I turned and said "I've never seen you on this block before. Are you following me?" He stammered and backed up, then looked BEHIND us at the last block and said "I'm going to (restaurant)." "No you're not, the crossing for that is back there. Are you following me?" "Kinda. I just wanted to know where you lived." "Go the fuck away." Then I turned into the wrong apartment complex and walked down one of the hallways for a few minutes before going home. Nothing like those things happens now. In fact, after I started socially transitioning, that guy figured out where I worked and came in looking for me, wandering around my work, while I had a customer facing IT job. I told my manager about him. She said "no, he's here with his wife and child." I was amazed, so we went to look, right as the woman clutched her child close and gasped at this guy, then left in a hurry, keeping the child shielded from him. My manager was like "orrrr another person he was stalking, sorry." Lol She asked him to leave, but he saw me first. He didn't recognize me! Hahaha. First perk of being openly a boy, way fewer stalkers. I've been trans since I was a kid, I just didn't have the words for it. I just called myself a "dude trapped in a girl's body" until doctors told me that wasn't a healthy mentality, so I called myself a "person". I'm from the generation before towns like the one I'm from understood this kind of thing. So the fact that sexual harassment and abuse has been rampant in my life (I was a child model) was especially frustrating.

Not really sad? Boys are treated by girls differently that other girls too. Maybe girls can start changing stuff for the better by not treating each other as shit. Males will treat females differently, and vice versa, it's biology.

I'm also ftm dude and I feel the same way! At college, guys would come up to me and give me bro hugs or a "bro shake" haha even if they don't know me. We are all bros apparently and it's an amazing feeling. The other students/work colleagues call me "little man" and it doesn't bother me lol, I'm 5'4 so hella short but I honestly like being short. Congrats on your transition though Caden, I'm very happy for you!!

I'm not ftm. I'm non binary/agender, But most of the time I dress masculine and pass as male. It is ridiculously true that men are treated better. When I'm dressing feminine, which doesn't happen very often, I'll get stares and awkward conversations. When I'm dressing male, I am stealth, regardless of my hips and chest. And people, especially men, are so much more friendly. I'll get complimented on my clothes, employees aren't afraid to talk to me, strangers will pick up conversations with me....It's like men have a secret code that they are all "bros" because that's how it feels haha
@tankir88

This generalisation is not entirely true. I understand you're view 100%, but I have an issue with people labelling all men under a category, same with any group. I'm a dude and some men aggravate me due to their insensitivity and some men are plain amazing, again same with any group just subtract the male and insert alternate. I think guys are seriously misunderstood and I'm gay, so I'm not a stereotype male sticking up for men. The educated assumption for why some men behave weirdly around women is maybe because they're straight and nervous around the opposite gender. So when you're dressing masculine and they view you as just another 'bro', it's easier to communicate. Nevertheless, I do agree with your view in many ways. I genuinely dislike other males calling me bro because it's awkward viewing my sexual attraction as a fucking brother. It angers me but I'd be an idiot to consider it wrong. They only use the bro word because naturally they'll assume I'm a typical "brother from another mother". What I absolutely, completely, certainly do NOT stand for is a person behaving negligently towards your personal characteristics even after they know the reality of the situation. Those are types of people I have no tolerance for internally but the only way to change their prejudice is to prove them wrong.
@SystemOfShootingStar

I see your point, but I feel that you took my personal life experience a bit too personally. I wasn't stereotyping all men. I was saying that people treat men better, especially other men. That is an undeniable reoccurrence in my life. And it continues to happen to other people who bounce back and forth between the extremes in their gender expression who I talk to. Also, the fact that you are a gay man in absolutely no way separates you from the stereotypical man standing up for men. Especially since you think that men are misunderstood and feel the need to stick up for them by playing the not-all-men card.
@tankir88

With all due respect, targeting your personal life in any manner was not in the slightest of my intention and hopefully you trust my sincerity. I may be a male at the end of the day but I respect Women, Men, transgendered men/women, Bi, Straight and every other group there is. You indirectly stereotyped men as one typical breed of character. We aren't all the same and I'm not playing a cheap card. I supported my points with reasonable evidence and in no way discarded or denounced your opinion. You expressed your opinion, I simply responded with mine. Therefore I have a right to defend myself as one of those "stereotypical Males" and say your opinion is personal, generalising and offensive therefore I won't stand for it.

Sexual politics, my dear Watson. And that's just the tip of the ice berg. There are many privileges and disadvantages for both sexes. And you'll find that not all apply to all men, or all women. I could elaborate on this topic for hours. But I'm sure you're already aware of most, if not all of it. But let me quickly explain the phenomenon you brought up. As a man, I can act kindly towards another man and expect nothing but reciprocation. However, if I show the same level of kindness to a women, it comes with a certain risk. There is always the danger of her perceiving me as having ulterior motive (that's where the sexual politics comes into play). There can be many shades of difference in the interaction from that point, dependent on her age, her race (if she has a racial preference, that is), her relationship status, and her attraction or disgust towards me. And so, wanting to avoid that entire mess, I choose to be cool, almost robotic. This is why men generally treat other men better than they treat women, because there's the chance that kindness will be replied to with rudeness or repulsion. But again, this is just one tiny fragment of the game that is sexual politics. There are also other explanations for what you experience. But I just gave what I believe to be the most influential reason.

I feel you on the thing with interacting with other boys. I'm pre-t/pre-op and it's hard to connect with cis boys because their awkwardness and discomfort shines through. And that in turn makes me uncomfortable. It just sucks that we have to go through hormone treatment/surgery to be treated like boys. We should be accepted for who we are.

I have been on testosterone for a year and change, and I like to say that socializing with guys is more like "buddy-buddy" whereas socializing with girls has become more awkward (at least for me,) unless they knew you before testosterone and they're supportive. And for the "you look younger than you are" thing, if it makes you feel any better, I really do look like a 12 year old boy because of my lack of height and facial hair (must be genetics.) You're a perfectly healthy human being and so blooooody good looking! Keep strong and hey when people call you by the wrong pronoun, don't let it concern you. My mom yelled at the cashier saying "that's my daughter" and she got all embarrassed.. I didn't mind the pronouns honestly but that was the last time I dressed that way because she didn't let me.. I wanted a pair of combat boots and my mom told me I needed to dress more feminine... I just can't wait to move out but I want to go to college and have my own business so should I dress like a guy when I go to college without my mom knowing?

Maybe Im good with holding eye contact and making them feel welcome (I have autism, it isnt always easy....) but it works as long as the misgendering and tras stuff or weird questioning or comments stays away like: how old are you, you look soft (or crap like that)

I would take everything ftm guys say about the experience of being 'a woman' with a huge grain of salt. Seems like a lot of it is projection, for example if it seems to you that all people feeling awkward when talking to you, chances are you are just are uncomfortable with yourself and project your experience on others and think people feel awkward talking to you. Most people do not really care about you or your gender. Seems like guys who look great after ftm transitioning have a boost of self esteem, or gender euphoria which in contrast make them feel like being a woman was freaking horrible. I mean it is valid, but it was their personal experience, not necessarily an objective truth.

First, I think you should make sure that you do some research. Explore everything that is under the gender spectrum, and really do some serious introspection. This is a big step, and you should really be sure that this is the route you want to take with your life. Then, if you are sure with your decision, you should try to gage your family's reaction to the lgbt community before you come out to them. You need to have a safe space. If that is not with your family, wait until you are independent and self sufficient before coming out. I know waiting is hard, I had to wait until I was in my third year of college to com out as FTM to my family, but it's worth it.

Hey. I'm 16 and ftm. Do you have any tips for dealing with dysphoria, "passing", and transitioning (without Testosterone)? I'm still new to it, and I just told my family and I'm out to everyone, but I haven't gone shopping for more masculine clothing yet.

I hope this isn't too late! I definitely recommend wearing shirts with patterns on them (it'll help cover up your chesticles even more if you have a binder), body language-wise observe people around you or @ work/school/college etc. and kinda try to mimic their mannerisms (you might do some already), if you tense your jaw a little it makes you look like you have a more pronounced jawline, and if you shrug your shoulders slightly it makes you look like you have broader shoulders. Hairdressers are the best stylists for pre-T trans men, barbers are cool but it's probably better to go to them when you've been on T for a while. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. Have a good day!

Mr. Benzedrine Thank you so much for your 'tips and tricks'. Since I've posted my comment, I've tried to copy my male peers' body language (How they walk, stand, sit, etc.), and I've been wearing a lot of graphic tees (because my parents won't let me get a binder), but thank you VERY much for your help. I really appreciate it. :)

It's about $23,000 - $50,000 to fully transition.. Depends on the country

Please remember you don't have to "Fully transition" to be a real man. All you have to do is identify as a man. And bam. You're a real man. You should only modify your body if you want to.

I pre T or freshly on T get along with dudes very well, but then one slips with "she"... and they all dont care and continue having fun with me but it gets so sad I have to correct them and from then on, some of them dont know how to treat me anymore like wtf... some see me as a dude cos I have a few guy friends I give and get hand shakes from, a good welcome, fun chats, chill moments (in the gym too). Im one of those transguys who can be outgoing if the people around me are laid back with anything I say or do. But I hate when others like ignore me sort of or even try to flirt with me and Im like: Im not a tomboy, Im a dude.... fuck

also: Im outed to some guys cos they were confused but they treat me the same way lately and they are fine with it. I hope it stays that way cos I love to have some guy friends. I have some female friends to but theyre getting less and less and not to say I dont like my female friends, but they jsut act different around me and elss chill and that is even pre T. idk, maybe cos I can talk about more weird and creepy stuff with the dudes ... yes, I have a perverted mind BUT I have respect too and the guys I hang with have the same respect so I hope that ALSo stays that way lol

The initial discomfort has to do with a perceived sense of appropriation.

how much test did you have to take monthly. Sorry if I am asking something personal. Im a guy (born a guy) but I have always tested very low in my testosterone level all my life. I am on testosterone now. This is probably stupid to say, but I am curious to know since I have never had normal Test levels as a male all my life, and now Im taking test injections, Im really curious to see if I would take on more masculine features. Anyways, love hearing and seeing people share their unbelievable and intimate struggles that most of us take for granted. I dont know what that feeling is like, but I know that if is something that I wouldn't want anyone to go through. But since this happens to our brothers and sisters around the world everyday, Im glad that there are viable options to pursue.
