I found it really curious that the inside of Hank's building was completely lit and the entrance to the building from the outside was completely blacked out as if the power was off. And when Fuches emerged from it with John and he looked Barry in the eyes, there's this unspoken dialogue between them. Through all of the horrible shit they did to other people and inflicted on each other, Fuches saved Barry's son... and then he gave the smallest of smiles before walking back into that pitch black abyss. Fuches was the only one out of the main cast to truly embrace who he was and make peace with it. Also, throughout the series, characters are always either unknowingly backing up into or walking out of the abyss and you start to notice it after Sally does it when she has that mental breakdown with her agent in season 3. But Fuches... he walks out of it, smiles... and runs back into it, like he belongs in it.

@GRIM0IREG00CH

In Barry, central characters constantly give up happiness in pursuit of their petty desires or habits. Fuches fell victim to this multiple times, but what is truly fascinating about his transformation is how Barry was just as bad for him as he was for Barry. Fuches constantly put himself and others in danger in an effort to control Barry, and that was his tragic flaw just like Barry’s was his rage and Gene’s was his ego. Once Barry was gone, he finally became his own man. Prison didn’t just force him to become independent; it made him realize that he had neglected his own strengths, one of which being the ability to accept himself for both the good and the bad. His last conversation with NoHo Hank really highlighted that truth. It’s crazy to think Fuches’ happy ending was never a beach or a mansion filled with beautiful women, but rather the capacity to accept himself for who he is while surrendering petty grudges and helping the people he wronged. If it weren’t for John, that could’ve easily been the solution for Barry as well, but both of them together would’ve just led to the same toxic cycle. Barry escaped; Fuches found freedom.

One of the most masterful parts of writing the Fuches character was how well he knows his man. He knows exactly what to say to anyone in any situation to get the result he wants. He could’ve walked out with multiple weapons and pointed them at John and/or Barry and said you let me walk away or the kid dies. But he knew Barry and how much John must’ve mattered to him to have a child as a fugitive. So he also knows if he does this, there’s an excellent chance Barry will see them as “square”. Until the end Fuches is a master at reading the room. He knows how to provoke Hank to start the gunfight and he knows Barry won’t harm him if he rescued John. So true to form here.

Think that John was also rattled. He's never even played call of duty. Can't imagine what all.those guns and bomb going off must've been like for him.
