Paul, your an absolutely inspirational soul...keep on keeping on

Dear Paul, Your amazing imagination, shade tree mechanic & fabricator skills, gleaned over nearly a lifetime, are such an inspiration. If you are willing, it strongly suggests you enter a whole new phase as a teacher, to train a new generation of dreamers & achievers by running hands-on summer seminars with a joint project like this efficient personal (& maybe a girlfriend passenger) trike in mind, like this one, to perfect it, if you can be persuaded. Or a summer seminar for people like me who never got much beyond the pen & paper stage plus a few good welding courses & repairing our old classic cars back in the day. Now at age 74, people like me want to actually DO something like this or help you achieve your dream in a final perfecting project, & given the detailed skills to make our own as well. You make it look so easy, but I know it isn’t. There are fine details - parts, tools, suppliers, supplies that only hands-on training & group activity & shared brainpower / knowledge can provide. You’ve got us asking ourselves, “Why do I have to wait for someone ELSE to design & make FOR me the solo or two person vehicle of my dreams, like the Rhat Racer (radical human amplified trike). With all the latest velomobiles of such new materials, & decades of sophistication since the 90s now, & lithium batteries, or hydrogen burning technology out there to address environmental concerns, to make recumbent velomobiles, streamliners of all sorts, whether purely human powred, pedal assist, or amplified, for health & exercise) & however many wheels, from one to four or more, even one with what looks like splayed legs on it, with wheels at their ends for off-roading. Also, the new technology, especially this new hydrogen burning modified diesel engine in England ( batteries are too heavy) that produces practically no NO2, can restore our old classic cars we’re trying to save from the junk yard. And frankly, I really don’t understand all the concern about batteries & range since all the freeways & major roads, running off of renewables & possibly nuclear, with power lines within them to run linear induction motors installed in cars, which would only then require enough battery power to do 20 mph or less for neighborhood streets without power lines. Hope you’ll consider offering summer seminars as you ride off into the sunset. Either way, thanks for the years of vicarious enjoyment.

Nice jig - far cheaper than buying a roller bender but just as effective in the end. Looking forward to the next part

@@paulwelkinsdiy It works, it's simple and doesn't take up room with tools you rarely use - who can argue with that? Not me. I'll have to keep the idea in mind next time I need to make a curve for a frame

I love it! “I’ve been thinking about building a trike since 1982”. I was born that year. I started thinking about building a trike around 1999 there was an article about one two friends built and skinned with aluminum in CycleWorld and I’ve thought that was an amazing project since.

Nice! I feel like independent front suspension would allow too much roll which can be a big issue with reverse trike setup. Really cool skill saw jig too! Can't wait for new video installments!

That looked like it bent nicely of course it isn't a tight bend. I'm working on one but mine uses bicycle wheels/tires and I am planning on it being electric. The bad thing about a trike is you are more than likely going to hit the pot holes either , with one of the front tires or the rear and not much chace of missing them. Thanks man.

True enough, but with three wheels it puts less torquing stresses on the frame on uneven surfaces.

Very cool project. I've always been fascinated with efficient and or electric vehicles. Bought the Dorian EV trike book and got a frame built, but got stuck on the transmission plate details. It could have been made lighter. Watched your videos on the small boats. Made several before KZitem! Keep up the good work, I enjoy your channel.

Looks good to me Paul, myself I think it should be a little wider. The solid suspension may be a mistake in ride comfort and handling. The two tubes on each side will act like a truss and likely be stuffer than you think. It will be fun to see how this design plays out. Oh my airplane design is done... this last year was so slow work wise didn't have the funds to start building.

all these trikes are cool, and 155mpg is awesome, but I have a couple of practical questions about the vehicle, one how are you going to register it, and two, at what speed does the trike get 155 mpg? If it's limited to 25 mph, that's not really useable in my opinion.

What are the the dimension of tubes? It looks like canopy is made from 25x25mm mild steel with thickness of 2mm? And that front suspension is made from 30-32mm square tube with the same thickness?

Indeed. Didn't he go thru hundreds of material tests before coming up with the light bulb filament? That's tenacity. Not too keen on his electrocuting an elephant though.
