The FX30 is a completely video centric camera, no EVF (important), no mechanical shutter. But with cool video stuff, as in, custom buttons, tally light, screw holes. Cool stuff. I wish Fuji made a fully video centric camera.

Please stop it with the color science, man. All of you. Not a fan of standard Sony colors, BUT they can be tweaked. A LOT. In camera. That is why they have so many profiles in there and settings. Just go to any profile and you can change even the tint of the white balance temperature. I did that. There are professional tutorials on how to do that. You can have S-CINETONE even on a 6300 like mine, with some tweaks. No hacks. Then the sensor delivers friendly out of the box colors. There is no color science… that can not be tweaked. Even in post, like you mentioned. Just, do not discredit a camera cause of that. I also own a Fujifilm camera.

How much does this tempt you to get an XH2s... But in all seriousness. SOOC in conversion from log to 709 the Fuji looks truer to life and is extremely pleasing to the eyes and really nice to work with. I picked my XH2s up for $2079 new, so it was an amazing deal. Please let me know if you have any other questions about the XH2s I've been daily running it for about 3-4 months about now and shot tons of portraits/videos etc. Also for the XH2s when you do the lowlight test!, the Fuji gives you the option to turn off all-internal noise reduction to give you more detail at cost of noise performance, ALTHOUGH.. you get to do post processing with noise reduction in DaVinci resolve and it actually looks INCREDIBLY clean when you do it like that instead of in camera. Whereas with the Sony what you see is what you get basically no flexibility with IQ other than detail/sharpness. I may sound like a fuji fanboy at this point but the performance from the XH2s compared to the previous A7IV that I had definitely blew the A7IV out of the water since 6.2k open gate retains quite a large amount of detail, and noise doesnt really bother me in the 6.2k opengate.

In Gerald Undone's review when he showed the true dynamic range in the lab tests, after applying light NR in Davinci, it was like 14 stops total BUT also 14 clean stops which totally surprised me. And if you had the fact that it doesn't have ugly chroma noise and that the noise actually looks quite pleasing, you could totally just leave it. I'm really impressed by this camera. I'm genuinely considering the purchase now... The only "bad" thing seems to be the insanely overly sharp image out of the camera, but that seems to be an easy fix in post or with softer lenses.
@SouthboundProduction
Жыл бұрын
@@botbot3698 -4 sharpness in camera solves it for me, I do end up adding a tiny bit of sharpness back like 0.49 worth of it but trust me it's overly sharp cause you're getting 6.2k sooc haha if you wanted a less sharper image then DCI 4k would be for you. Also the mid/detail slider is another good option!! But I get what you mean with leaving the "grain" in for an aestheticly pleasing image, I remove it then add 16mm/35mm grain so I understand what you're saying. I personally do -3 NR and -4 Sharpness so I dont have to do too much post work in NR but the only downside i've seen so far is the lower bit depth in color when shooting 4k 60 FLOG2 and that's just about it. But yes the XH2s is an amazing camera.

fuji has a special look to it, especially if you shoot classic chrome with the curve set to -2 highlights -2 shadows, not sure why or how but it's sharp yet so soft and smooth, and the colors are at such a great starting point, so you can have a clean look with that, or take it somewhere else in color grading!

Set your white balance appropriately. Decided your contrast in camera with shadow and highlight settings. Set your desired saturation. Just record. Hell, put it in eterna with auto WB and a small bump to highlights and shadows..once you see it, you can never unsee it. It will make you feel disappointed in 90% of other colour rendering.

As someone that has used Sony for years, I can honestly say I’ve like the footage and colours of the Fuji a lot more. On top of that, I think the Fuji has more natural highlight roll off. The Fuji also shoots open gate, making it better for anamorphic lenses. Sony labels their FX3 and FX30 with the “cine-line” moniker and yet they are still missing important/basic features and assist tools. Sony doesn’t give enough of a shit to update their cameras, which may not matter to everyone, but seeing how many features are added via updates to the Panasonic and Fuji lines, its making it harder to stay with Sony. I still love my Sonys, but I feel like they are getting left behind, feature-wise.
