@@TheWholePicture actually, I was curious as to how I could go about doing a double exposure on this camera? Some other tutorials suggest to push the rewind pin in on the bottom, but I’m not sure if that’s actually going to stop the film from rolling when wound for another shot. Do you have any suggestions?

I suppose double exposure is possible with the Fujica GeR but it is not necessarily an integrated function so you're going to have to do some experimenting haha The way to attempt a double exposure on a camera like this is to take photo 1 of the exposure, wind the film forward noting the rewind knobs rotation, then press the rewind button and turn the knob approximately the same distance it moved from one photo advance, then take photo 2 of the exposure. It isn't a perfect method but it is a way to get started with double exposures. I hope it all goes well with the camera!

great review, do you what is the flash sync speed on this one, when the aperture is set, what speed does it fire? 1/60?

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the wonderful comment! I'm glad youve been enjoying the GeR! Its a fun little camera~ As far as focus i pretty much set it to 3 meters or 10ft and most things tend to be in focus if you have higher iso film and during the day. The rangefinder isnt the biggest or brightest so nailing focus can be tough! I'll have more videos out soon!

Thank you very much! It's a great little rangefinder super fun to use! The adapters are from Kanto camera i believe they're nr52 replacements but i don't know off the top of my head. You can find them on eBay sometimes and I'm sure there are adapters from other brands. Hope that helps thanks!

Hello, I know the vid already has a year and a half and you might miss this comment, but I have a question about controlling the aperture. There are no f-stops could you maybe explain a bit further how do these GN values translate to f-stops without using the flash. I'd like to get maybe night-time photos but my version of the GER doesn't have the self timer so I'm not sure how to actually do that,. If you could maybe explain these two things, the GN values/how to use them and how you did the process of night-time photography. Thank you so much if you're able to answer/set aside some time. * Quick edit, just wanted to ask, my yellow box for focusing is kind of faint on my camera do you think this is a battery issue? You didn't really show how intense the color on your camera was so i don't have a clue. Because the yellow circle for the light led is very bright when i soft press the shutter button.

Hello and thank you for the comment! Unfortunately I don't have the camera with me at the moment so it is difficult to give you exact details. For the GN stops you might be able to find a chart online, but typically with a camera like this I will open the back and do a few tests on bulb exposure setting to see what the most open/closed apertures are before getting out and photographing. Without a self timer I recommend you pick up a shutter release cable, it should screw into the shutter button and allows you to trigger the shutter without movement for long exposures. For the rangefinder patch it is most likely not a battery issue but these little compact rangefinders aren't always the highest quality. It also might be difficult/expensive to improve the rangefinder visibility so you might want to stop down the aperture for more accuracy. The rangefinder also most likely has no relation to the yellow circle that lights up when pressing the shutter. The shutter might just be an indicator for when the camera is locking exposure but im not sure. Sorry I couldnt help much... cameras like this dont always have the most information online so we have to tinker with them a bit to learn their strengths and weaknesses but they are fun cameras and I hope you get some good pictures!

@@TheWholePicture Thank you for your answers, you answered a lot of my questions. Do you think every shutter cable should work here or are they model specific? I have only one last question... How did you control shutter speed for the night long exposure shots? Was it by the self timer or? How do you get the shutter to stay open for multiple second, I can't find it anywhere.
@TheWholePicture

No problem! Shutter release cables for the most part are universal. They screw onto the shutter buttons thread and basically extend the button via the cable. As for the long exposure, without the camera in front of me it is hard to say but I probably stopped down the aperture or lowered the iso rating on the camera to trick it into doing a long exposure. The other way I could have done it is with a bulb exposure setting if that is available. Sorry I cant help much without the camera in front of me, but try to mess around without film in the camera to see what settings produce the shutter speeds you want! Best of luck!

Hey! I'll be getting one of these soon. How do the flash guide numbers translate to controlling aperture?
@TheWholePicture
3 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for the question! It seems like as you spin the dial the aperture gets smaller. Ive lent the camera to a friend so I can't tell you exactly how it works but when you get the camera just try spinning the dial with the camera back open and see it's affect on the aperture. In general knowing the way to get the widest aperture is probably the only number you need to remember. Stepping down even a stop or two at a distance of 3meters or so will render a deep depth of field. I hope that helps please feel free to ask any questions you may have!

What kind of batteries should I use, and where can I find adapters?

Hello and thank you for the question. The GeR uses HM-N(NR52) batteries but there are different adapters available online mainly on eBay but you might be able to find them from B&H or other large retailers.

Hello and sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I dont have the camera with me at the moment (im loaning it to a friend), so it is difficult to help diagnose the issue. If you were using the camera only on A mode, I would recommend trying one of the GN numbers to see if the flash will fire... sorry i couldn't be of much help.

That's a good price if it works! See if you can get the battery adapters first and test the camera in person before committing to buy it. That could save you from having an expensive paper weight, and the battery adapters are useful on other cameras of the era!
