Is the focusing mechanism of this lens loud? Yes. Are the corners of the image this lens produces blurry? Yes. Have I ever been dissatisfied with its performance and image quality? Not once. Great, down-to-earth review. Would like to see more.

ive used mayb 90% of the available fuji glass in the market and my favourite is this and the 35 1.4. people always get caught up with speed, sharpness etc and overlook this lens most of the time.

I think I'm right with you with regards to 18 f2 and 35 1.4 being #1 and #2 for me. Crazy that they were the first lenses that Fuji made in XF mount.

Great review on the 18mm f2. I am thinking about checking out this lens for my xPro3. Everyone would talk about how slow the focus is on the older Fuji lenses. I decided to try out the old 35mm 1.4 thinking it was going to be super slow. It turned out to be an amazing lens. Yes it was slower that most of the new lenses but still works pretty nicely for me. Thanks for the video! 👍🏻

I hope to get one soon. I didn't looked to much at this lens because all the KZitemrs complain about the sharpness. But after studying Flickr I think is at least sharp as xf10, with better bokeh, good autofocus and good minimum focus distance - all in a very lite package.

Yes it's beautiful combination. I wouldn't "upgrade" to the 1.4 version. Two very different lenses

Thanks for watching. I 100% recommend trying it out. I believe o got this lens in a trade and had no interest in it initially but I absolutely love it. Mounted on a camera it can be slid into a Fanny pack style bag and be worn cross body. Little reason not to bring it everywhere!

So good my man. Thanks for not being a pixel peeper, haha. You're so right, at the end of the day it's all about what's inside the frame and what's not.

Awesome review thanks. Coming from and absolutely loving the fixed 23 (35) lens I wanted a slightly wider lens I want something small portable etc so the 18 is my first lens for the X-pro body. Another top presentation cheers mate.

I’m actually considering this lens for my X-Pro3 for street photography, I really wish they made this in silver too but that’s neither here or there. I can’t wait to get mine.

I really wish Fuji (and other manufacturers) would make more silver lenses! The all black look is cool, and low key; however, the silver lenses look amazing black AND silver camera bodies. Additionally, the black paint on the Fuji lenses wears super easily so the lenses might hold up better over time if it's silver on top of silver, or just straight anodized aluminum. The 18mm f2 is amazing, I think you'll love it.

Great video! How difficult is it to focus manually for video. I guess with 18 mm would not be crazy hard because of the focal length. Any focus breathing or noticeable jumps while focusing?
@Lonnie.G

Sorry for the late reply. I wouldn’t recommend this lens for manual focusing or video work in general. The AF is noisy and not smooth. Great for photography though

For me I still pick the 18mm. A personal choice though. Something special about this one to me. I no longer have it but I’ve been checking used prices cause I want it again. My fav Fuji lens but the used prices have been rising

does this lens have the closeby F2 problem of softness the 23mmf2 is famous for? thanks for the review
@Lonnie.G
2 жыл бұрын
not in my experience! I've never pixel peeped close up but for me the 23mm was noticable without doing so. The 18 looks comparatively sharp at MFD as it does from a distance to my eyes. Thank you for watching!

Not at all. I own both and the 18 is beautifully sharp up close at f2 with some excellent character in its bokeh. The 23mm suffers at f2 up close.

It's a slow to AF and hunts when paired with those older bodies. Sharp enough for those with 16mp bodies. But, Paired with newer bodies, AF is fast enough.
@Lonnie.G

Agreed from what I can remember. Very solid on newer bodies but I do hope to pick one up for my xpro 1 at some point and I can revisit how to two marry. Thanks!
