I want one.....so so badly. But as a mainly wedding photographer honestly it's overkill. But I would LOVE to have it and see what kind of results I could get at a wedding. It seems like even as a medium format camera it could keep up with wedding photography as well.

FINALLY. Someone who actually focuses in on the video aspect of the GFX 100. Others either pay it no mind or give it 2min max. That doesn't do much to help me decide if the camera is worth using for small video projects on the side. Thanks.

I own a GFX100 and undoubtedly this is the best camera I've personally ever owned and have worked with to date. Image quality and versatility are unmatched and having upgraded from an EOS 1Dx MkII, it's relatively large size and weight are no issues for me as I was used to bigger FF cameras before anyway. Would love to see another follow-up long-term video later on as you use it longer. Love your channel, keep up the awesome work!

Great review! Like many, I would love to get this camera. Maybe down the road if the price drops. For now I will use a nodal slide (RRS - MPR-CL-II) with my Canon 5DSr and Zeiss lenses and do three vertical frame stitching to get the equivalent of a medium format image. You can't do this if you shoot people or moving objects but for landscapes, it's a great solution. You can even use a nodal slide to get a full frame image from a crop sensor camera.

I'm looking to grab one this winter. I previously shot with Phase One and had to offload my gear to survive the loss of work due to covid. The big thing selling me on fuji, being able to use an adapter to shoot with the canon glass I have on hand already. Granted I'll lose out on much of the stabilization features, but it will allow me to work with what I have already on hand until I have the glass I want for the fuji.

As a fashion shooter used to the big box MF format I was concerned I would not get on with it however this is the only camera I have used which not only ticks the 'Is it as good as a Mamiya RZ?" box but surpasses it. The 110 and 80mm are the new boss's - but I love the 50mm - one lens to rule them all - and it hooks into Elinchrom ELB500's to give gives consistent HS sync at all speeds way beyond the RZ's lowly 400 max right up to Fuji' 4000 1/S. Push and pull in post like no other system out there - way beyond my last effort in digital - the Hass H6D100c - which whilst ultimately more accurate colour wise was far too slow in reality both in lenses and in use on set. I might even be tempted to get the little 100s to see how that works in my hands. Fuji. you have delivered - my thanks.

Thanks for the informative review. The question that remains for me is not regarding the camera itself, but rather what computer do you use to edit such huge files (200 Mb, as you mentionned) and especially, how much RAM do you need to edit at a reasonable speed. Investing in a camera like this would also mean for me to invest in a new computer. My Mac Pro is 12 years old and would most certainly not be able to handle the GFX 100 files with ease. All the best to you!

Great review makes me want to sell a kidney to get one! I am running a XT3 currently and I just love how Fuji files come out of the camera and I'm loving the video. Fuji really nailed this, and I feel that it's leaps and bounds over the GFX50s/r with the AF, the IBIS, file size of course. I've been looking into possibly getting into the GFX line with a pre-owned GFX50r to at least get into the lens system as I don't nearly do as much commercial work you do but I LOVE the larger format. I've used the Hasselblad X1D and the resolution out of 50 megapixels is astonishing, I couldn't Imagine 102. In your opinion do you think that this would be a one all do all camera? It's advertised to have AF on par with some DSLRs granted it's not 1Dx but it seems to have great capability for some moving subjects and some action as I've seen in some reviews.

I really enjoyed your review and approach to it. There come out many videos when a camera is released and it is usually not from people who "own" that gear but who test it for a very short amount of time. You are one of the passionate few that actually shoot it, take time to experience it and now have given us that beautiful impression video. Thank you for that. With medium format cameras there are not so many people who actually do this in such a nice way with the images and behind the scenes videos included. Looking forward to your next GFX100 Video over the months as you experience it more and more :) Greetings from Germany, Dirksón!

I am very close to getting one myself. Best thing to happen to the original GFX100? Ahh, that would be the newer GFX100S - the original is now criminally cheap second hand, my main camera guy has a mint one for sale with two batteries and charger that has taken only 800 shots. Price? $7200 Australian dollars. Crazy value. So for $8000 in US dollar terms invested you've got a pro system that can dunk all over full frame (again given the niche)..

I am very curious what kind of results I could get with photos from this camera. Any chance you would have the time to produce a small data set? I would just want like 20 photos of some interesting textured object. A mossy boulder, a graffitied dumpster, or the like. Shot with a fixed focal length. No worries if you’re busy but if that sounds interesting do let me know. Happy to share all data if you want to make a video about the results. Thanks!

My girlfriend has a fuji xt-30, it's the only fuji I've played with. I own several high end cameras but my go-to is the a7iii. The video quality between the xt-30 and a7iii is crazy...the fuji blows it out of the water and it's almost (or was at the time of purchase) 1/3rd of the price of the sony. It shoots 200mb 4k whereas the a7iii does 100. But the colors and the depth are far better than the sony. As far as megapixels go, I was under the imprerssion that unless you are blowing your images up to billboard size it doesn't really make a difference. That a 4K image is only 8.5 mexapixels and you'd be shooting a much, much higher quality image than a television can project anyways.

If you buy an adapter then Yes. That's the beauty of mirrorless, you can adapt almost any glass with the correct adapter. For your case the EF-GF adapter will do the trick. Have the GFX 50r and use Canon EF lenses with the Viltrox electronic adapter. (Gives you autofocus and aperture settings.) With the GFX lineup you will get vignetting because of the larger sensor and Full Frame glass but there's a setting in camera that crops the pics to 30mp on the 50r with absolutely zero vignette. Or you can just shoot with the full resolution and crop out any vignetting in post. Hope this helps... 😊👍

I can't name a reputable professional photographer who recommends Lightroom, especially when it comes to working with medium format systems. Firstly, Lr doesn't import raw, it changes it to a 10bit DNG and bakes in it's own style before you even get to touch it. Seriously, get a trial of Phocus, CaptureOne, and then Lr and open the same image in each one. C1 allows you to pick the raw processor, as does Phocus, but Lr doesn't - you'll notice the changes and flick Adobe to the bin where it belongs.
