This was a very helpful video, and saved me a lot of money and probably also a lot of camera-less time if I had sent it in somewhere. The procedure was indeed easy to follow. While removing the sensor stains for which I had done the cleaning (they were gone immediately) , I had managed to get an additional dust particle on the sensor, but this was easily fixed by blowing out dust one more time. Now the stains on the image are the actual stains on my "white" wall :)))

This video is a masterpiece. Thank you for doing that, man! And I HIGHLY appreciate you going straight to the point. I've been observing some KZitem channels doing tens of minutes of video for a message that could literally be passed in 30 segunds, just to comply with AdSense algorithms and sh*t.I think that one of the main strengths of your channel is going straight to the point. Also, for this video specifically, I watched and liked it some months ago (I even left a comment saying "Your channel rocks". While photoshopping with my 100-400mm and a tight aperture, I noticed some artifacts. I went straight back to this video but wanted to check a couple more on KZitem just to see if I was missing something. That being said, all the instructions you mentioned here are just better and make much more sense than the instructions in other videos, plus the vacuum cleaner scene at the beginning, which is simply Oscar winning, haha. Actually, it passes a very good value proposition of what you are about to teach. VIdeos like this inspires me to create my own KZitem channel as well, or write more often in my blog. Thank you!

Great post Chris and extremely helpful. I bit the bullet about 3 months ago when I noticed the dreaded dust spots on my images and bought an Alturo kit for about $50. It came in a zip case complete with everything you need. First sensor clean I did on my xt3 was very very nerve wracking but managed to complete it successfully. Now if I am going on a big shoot I will check the sensor and clean it if necessary without hesitation. I also change lenses without worrying too much about dust as I know I can clean it if necessary. I haven't tried the dust on finger sensor wipe yet, I may leave that you !!

Yes it´s a bit scary to do this but using the right tools is simple and very secure process. The firts time I clean the sensor of my camera I use very little pressure, yea I was afraid, and by that I had to repeat the process several times until the a last time that I applied pressure on the swab and solve it. By this video you can have a better understanding of the pressure you need to use! thanks for the nice video! !!

Always great videos here ... this is one of the better cleaning videos out there. I would just suggest to set the Aperture to f22 if you can and that will show a bit more. I can never get mine 100% clean so don't waste all of your swabs. At f2 or less than f10, I don't think most images will show the dust to be a problem. I noticed in LR that the test images were around f2 or so. Great video!

You are actually just clean the outer layer of the sensor protector, sometime dust get trapped inside between sensor and inner layer of sensor protector. When that happen, the only way to clean it is to open the whole sensor part which is dissemble the body. Its actually easy to do, but hard for some people. Easy to damage all the flex cable

Thanks for this very informative video! I just bought a 6 year old X-Pro 2 that had basically been sitting on someones closet shelf for those 6 years. It still had Firmware 1.0 and looks brand new. However, the sensor was the dirtiest I've ever had on a camera. The blower did not do any good nor did a couple of swipes with a dust brush. I just ordered what you recommended to use and will probably have to use at least two swabs to get the dirt off the sensor. I'm hoping for the best.
@DaveJulianUTube

Advice Re: "Dust Brush"= NEVER use a Dust Brush on a sensor, or on the body anytime sensor box is OPEN without a lens or body cap. These brushes have a habit of gathering dust and then flicking it into the air during cleaning. If you do this in the dark with a headlamp aimed across the work area, you'll be appalled at how much dust the brush activates.

Those cleaning fluids can actually leave very light streaks to the sensor, if you watch closely in optimal light after couple hours when you have "cleaned" the sensor. I usually just use swabs without fluid if its just normal dust. Swabs are also perfect for cleaning lenses.
@pal2tech
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's definitely an option. However, for some of these sensors, some viewers take their cameras to places that they just have to have some kind of liquid to assist. Swabs almost in those cases would work after the initial cleaning. I've not personally had streaking issues, but have heard of this and probably should have at least mentioned this somewhere in the video that it's a possibility. YT of course doesn't allow us to edit our damn videos!
