I don't think that it's correct. The zone focussing is not a Fuji-specific thing or a camera feature, its possible with every lens you can focus manually with (at least in theory). The feature that is similar to the snap focus of the Ricoh GR series seems to be the focus range limiter. Have a look at my video about it. :D Thx for watching.

Hello, I nowadays trying to use this camera with leica film body. Is there any way to make it possible that pressing the half shutter doesn't work on x100v? The physical tab, AF-s doesn't allow me to use the lens ring for focusing, and M tab allows me to use the ring for focusing, however I can't make the half shutter click disable. I'd like to use it only for OVF and the shutter as film camera.

Great video! I love how much to the point it is, yet with the important details. QUESTION: When I try to zone-focus my X100V I expect it to immediately take a picture when I press the shutter release button because there's nothing to focus on, right? Wrong. For some reason my X100V first changes its focus somewhat and THEN takes a picture. So the preview on my LCD that I have before I press is incorrect, and there's a slight delay in taking the photo because of the miliseconds spent on doing-something-focussy. Stuff ain't REALLY in focus though so I'm not sure what my camera is doing. I might have some sneaky setting turned on that prevents it from just being all manual, but I have no idea what it might be and I'm tired and tomorrow I want to zone-focus the sh*t out of the party where I'm going :-) Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks for your video (and any reply I might get from anybody), and warm regards, Bart
@Jayshooter_photo

First of all you should make sure to be in manual focus mode. From that point there should be no way the camera changes the focus by half pressing or pressing the shutter release button. Maybe check your button/dial settings by pressing the disp/back Button for 2 Seconds and have a look if there is something set up to do this. Hope this is helpful....

Hi Joachim, this was brilliant, thanks so much. I recently got to rid of Ricoh GH111 (shock horror) because I just could not get on with it. Am I the only one in the world? But SO happy I now have the x100v which feels much better. Yesterday I went out and shot 'street photography' for the first time. I was in AFC and I was not too happy with the sharpness of focus. Is 1/250 enough to freeze someone walking or should I be at 1/500. My ISO was not too high. But I'm going to try zone focussing. Also if you are in slow burst mode does this decrease the quality of focus? With your zone focussing which photometry setting do you use? Also do have have face detection on. LAST final question? With the x100v do you use the weather protector filter or will this decrease sharpness? Many thanks Karin
@Jayshooter_photo
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Karin. Frist of all: My name is Jochen. ; ) Quite similar to Joachim (and has the same biblical source) but not the same. If you try to catch movement, try 1/500s or 1/1000s, just to be sure. But usually 1/250s should be enough, if you are not moving in addition to that. Try Zone foccussing, it's great. Burst mode should not affect the quality. My Photometry is multi most of the time or center weighted on some occasions. I don't youse Face detection on the street. I usually don't use the WR Kits, but I did not recognize lower sharpness if I do so. BR!

Hello what is the difference between pixel basis and the film format basis ? I see that when I’m using the film format for street photography, I’ve got a larger depth of field than the pixel basis. If I keep the film format basis will I lose some sharpness or information/ quality in my photo ?
@Jayshooter_photo

No, the image quality is not effected at all. It’s just another method of measuring. If you use you’re image on really high resolution screens, the depth of field will be shallower for the viewer. And to have that in mind right away while shooting, the setting will change the „bar“ on the scale. I hope, this is helpful. Thx for watching!

You can shoot in continuous AF but set to back button focus. Use the back button focus to focus on a given distance then it will be set but then the trade off is that you can’t use the focus ring. I’m not sure if there’s an option in the menu to disable the focus ring in manual mode or not. I’ll have to look at my camera. I guess it could be cool to use that small button to the right of the shutter as a focus ring enable/disable button.
