I have this as my go to lens paired with an x-h2s. The compact footprint and the high quality of the images i must say is a killer combination.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, top video once again. Good to see some shots of the German market. Me and a couple of friends tried taking some photos in and around there the other week, still building our confidence, but it was good fun. I only own the XC35 but absolutely love that lens, so small and lightweight, with great image quality.

I'm not a huge fan of the 50mm focal length, but whenever I use this lens I really enjoy the results. I'm thinking of getting the 30mm macro though, and if I do this lens will go in pex.

Damien, like you I live in the Midlands, and I think the weather ceiling is essential for at least half the year. Its a cracking lens, and I dont use mine or the sister 23mm half as much as I should, leaving the excellent 18-55 on the front of the camera as long as its dry. Made me think a trip to Brum with a a couple of primes in my pocket is called for in the near future. As a new subscriber this set of Vlogs is a great resource for Fuji users, that should be better known. Thank You.

Weather "sealing" my friend! Sorry to be spelling gestapo. I'm in the Midlands too, (Staffordshire Moorlands). I have the Original 35mm F1.4, I got with my X-Pro1.

Yes... I think it's around 45% rain in the Midlands on average. However I try my best to avoid shooting in it! Thanks a lot Paul!!! Really appreciate the comments!

Did you see that TTartisan has a 56 1.8 AF lens dropping soon? Could be interesting… the AF 35 1.8 looks fun.

I love their 27/2.8-the quirky optics are charming (YMMV), and no AF lens this wide is this swirly. But the 35/1.8 seems lackluster. No aperture ring, and kinda just an ordinary modern optic. Decently sharp, nothing wrong with it, but nothing unique. The Sony version has less competition, but with the XC 35/2 for $200 vs the TTArtisan $150, it doesn’t even really make much sense as a budget option. And then there are the Sigma 30mm and Viltrox 33mm f/1.4s for not much more. As to the upcoming 56mm… the lack of an aperture ring is still frustrating, but I could cope if it had some interesting optics. There’s a bunch of folks I can buy from where there are good clean modern optics. If I really wanted to put up with the lack of an aperture ring, I’d lean towards the often on sale Sigma 56, since it’s so tiny (won’t block an XPro viewfinder). If TTArtisan did an autofocus equivalent of a Helios 44, with vintage charm you can’t easily get with autofocus? Instant pickup. If it’s just an ordinary 56 that’s maybe a bit cheaper and doesn’t have an aperture ring? I’m sure to pass.

@@DamianBrown , while I got you in the room, do you have an opinion on the XT3 vs XT30ii? Looking for an everyday carry, to document my family, MAYBE (maybe) a small amount of quick video (that’s a MAYBE), but something with the XTrans IV sensor. Doesn’t have to be the latest and greatest, seeing how I don’t mind when a camera and/or lenses have some “quirks.” Thanks!

Honestly either would be top quality for what you need. I still use the T3 but if I owned the T30ii I'd definitely travel with it and use it for day trips@@brianode11

Got to be fair, it is a great lens... but given the competition now? I don't think it's essential anymore. I've been playing with the TTartisan F1.8 this week and that's $150 brand new and it's quite excellent. It's not weather-sealed but having been rained on often enough over the years, I don't really believe that weather-sealing is a huge deal. Though my long-term choice at this focal length is the 33mm F1.4 WR, it's for the image quality, not the WR. It's a good review but with the emergence of Viltrox, Sirui, and TTartisan with 7artisans, Yongnuo, Meike, etc. certain to follow suit? I feel this price point has become way, way more competitive than it was 7 years ago. All of the Fujinons, in fact, are in the same boat too.
