So many parts of my life and the lives of those around me. I am a nurse and a veteran. My mother was the pill popper generation. A pill to wake up and one to go to sleep. In later years, the drinking instead of pills. Friends my age who drink along with their pain pills. Relationships without love, loves without a relationship. Most of all, the way this country abandoned it's Vietnam vets when they came home.

I am an Army Veteran from an era women weren’t supposed to be in the military. I am a nurse and I work at the VA. The book does pretty good job of depicting the history of failures of the VA. It is also a reasonably accurate Glimpse into military culture that creates unbreakable bonds between soldiers. Because of these brave veterans, the VA has evolved, improves & now provides outstanding care. Loved this book!

Kristin Hannah just *gets* it, doesn't she? The way she captures the social climate around Vietnam, especially for women...oof, right in the feels. Anyone else get major "Mad Men" vibes from this whole 4th of July scene? Let's be real, though, that playlist is tragic. Little Deuce Coupe? Come on, Frankie, you deserve better!

Thank you for writing this book. My father was a Vietnam Vet who suffered from PTSD and eventually passed due to the impact that Agent Orange had on his liver. We recently visited DC and were able to see the memorial to the women who served in Vietnam. It truly is breath taking.
