I believe 1959 was the last year for the straight front axle, and by 1960 Chevy pickups started the infamous torsion bar front suspensions as correctly represented in the kit. A few years later that suspension was replaced by the more conventional coil spring style. great videos as usual, and keep up the great work.🙂

Well done. Customs aren't really my thing, but this went together just the way you wanted it to. (AMT disappoints me when they issue kits that cannot be built as factory stock. The kit should always have those factory parts.)

They did issue this stock a little while back, it came with a go kart. I’m sure it’s still easily available. Look on the Autoworld site.

@@TheAutisticModeler that site is too high priced, even if the kit were still available there. Plus, you then have to pay shipping, and risk damage in transit. I've stopped even looking at Autoworld. AMT is not supplying that stock kit now, it has disappeared at Hobby Lobby long ago, has lost its bin on their model shelf completely, in preparation for the release of this new custom kit, no doubt. I think I also saw the last of AMT's old inventory of the stock kit liquidated at Ollie's during the late winter time frame. It's definitely not available at hobby shops anywhere around here. I still say, AMT should never release a custom version kit without including all the factory stock parts in it.

AMT should offer the basic truck or car kit at a reasonable price. Then offer stock or custom parts separately at a reasonable price. This would allow model builders more options and not be stuck with parts they may not use. Just my thoughts.🤔
@rayrussell6258

@@johnclemans7802 that would end up costing model kit consumers way more, with all that additional manufacturing and supply-chain complexity. How would you forecast how many want the custom or the stock parts, when the factory is producing 1000 kits or whatever # run cycle they typically make? They can't be interrupting their future production schedule, constantly switching from one model back to another set of special parts, because they miss the demand for things. Including both stock and custom parts in one package is the most price efficient way to market kits, and leaves no one disappointed that they cannot build the kit as wanted. lol, extra parts leftover is easily solved in my case .... they go into the trash when I finish a build. 😉

Great build Louie. love the orange paint job and the white scallops accent it perfectly. I kind of like that a six cylinder was chose for the model instead of some Big'Ol V-8 that usually is chose. I've always been into six cylinders. That fuel injection system that was used didn't work very well I had it on my '57 Chevy then took it off to be replaced by 2 deuces., ran much better. I also like how you pointed out the flaw on the front end and how to make the correction.
