Phil, you stand out on KZitem. These quick and precise tips were/are helpful. Relating to people is not a strong suit of mine, but I like your push of building relationships with bride, groom, party, family, etc. throughout the day.

I normally shoot families and kids and don't shoot weddings but a good client is insisting on me doing her small wedding so I'm absorbing all this information like a sponge! At least I've got a year to learn as much as I can, so thank you so much for all this information Phil!

Just have a lot of communication with the couple before hand. Know whats important to them, know the schedule inside and out, and hire someone to second shoot with you. If its your first, you should not shoot it solo.

@@philporto one question: you use a speedlight and a magmod for the reception, but on the dancefloor it seemed to me that you were using a smaller speedlight and pointing right on the subjects. Why? Thank you!

@@pedroferreirabass So I switch to a smaller one to keep it light and can be in and out and have fun. i use direct so that I can take more epic dance photos like these instagram.com/p/CUoWrvNsPOs/ I want my dance floor photos to look like a party.

Thanks for the great video. Interesting how you shoot the wedding party before family photos. I find them all to be too scattered by the time I get back from shooting the party and too short on time. I'd definitely prefer it to work the way you do it!

Ps. Where do you situate yourself during the ceremony so as not to be constantly moving around and distracting everyone?
@philporto
2 жыл бұрын
With one shooter, not really possible. A lot happens in a ceremony so as a sole shooter you will have to move. During vows you will have to go back and forth to get each persons reaction. Rest of the ceremony you can stand in the center aisle, but you have to go back and forth in vows and some other points if you want to see their actual expressions.

Hello Phil, what are typically the two lenses that you use on a wedding?

So sorry for the delay. Had to step away from youtube for a bit but most the day its the fuji 18 (24 equivalent) and fuji 33 (50 mm equivalent). Then super wide for the dance floor

Hi Phil, Thank you for this video. For poor or filler lighting, would you suggest using a Godox TT350? If so, facing the couple or bouncing off a white wall if possible?
@philporto

That is an ok flash but not the greatest recharge speed. the one i have seems to be discontinued but id look at this. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1669851-REG/godox_tt685iif_tt685f_ii_flash_for.html And I wouldnt do front facing or bouncing, I would invest in this www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1678151-REG/magmod_mmstrkit02_starter_flash_kit_v2.html best product for low light while using a flash
