I used to fly the route DUS-ORD-SLC quite often with American Airlines back in the 90's with the B-767-300ER.

Well, much of that flight was pretty unremarkable due to all of the cloud cover, IMO...but that approach and landing way more than made up for it. Spectacular stuff. Loved it. I noticed that the American aircraft are no longer on that cross runway in Tulsa. Has that runway been re-opened or...?

Hey there. I know how important the audio is, and it's so close to perfect here. I found that if I use canned air to clean my devices, it works very well. It shouldn't damage anything in your camera or the IPhone microphone or ear piece. I found 6 cans for $10.00 at Samsclub last Saturday, and that's a heck of a deal! I know that'll chase away any minute particles or droplets that can get inside your devices. I didn't see any mini-sizes, though, so you'll have to use them at home before you depart, unless they'll let you take a can with you in your carry-on. Like I mentioned earlier, the audio difference is so minute, it's hard to tell without headphones or acute hearing. Enjoy, and as always, I just love these videos. I really wish I could travel with you. I am attempting to fly to Chicago via Delta, but it'll have to be after they open up that city a lot more than it is right now. Take care, and thank you for these fantastic videos!

Thanks to our previous conversations, I do use compressed air on my mic ports before each trip now. However, my camera is still an iPhone which I keep in my pocket when I'm not using it. So, this method isn't always foolproof. I know from my days right out of college, when I worked for American, that you cannot take compressed air onboard and aircraft, so that's a no go for sure haha. I have recently invested in some new "dedicated recording equipment" but I have yet to work the bugs out. I've tried it several times on flights, and the audio is always worse than the iPhone. It's really amazing how good iPhones are when it comes to cameras and audio. My new recording equipment is picking up a lot of feedback, and I can't figure out if it's the microphone, or the device I'm using to store the audio on. Hopefully I'll get it worked out soon.

@@sla31 Sounds like you're really doing a lot. Do you have a case for the IPhone 11 Pro, or is there one? I've also heard that there are sterilizers you can use on smartphones, and I think one is from Clean Zone, and you might even be able to get some great deals on Deal Dash dot com. They can retail for $99.00 to $200.00, but Deal Dash really offers savings of up to 98% on even brand new products. It is a bidding site, but it's the only one so far that's accepted or validated. I don't remember if it was on snopes dot com or somewhere else, but it was described as the only trusted bidding site on the Internet. Anyway, good luck with everything. I wish I could help you with that new recording equipment, but alas, I'm not near you. Thanks as usual for filling me in on the developments.

I do have a case for my iPhone. It's a standard Otter Box. I don't dare carry around a $1,600 piece of equipment without a case haha. Honestly though, this is probably part of the problem. The case has openings for the mic and speaker, but it ends up funneling stuff into those ports. I'll get the new mic figured out. It's not like it's horrible quality, but there's.... I don't know how to describe it. It's like there's background static in the audio when I play it back. It could be the mic, or it could be my old iPhone. The mic is stand alone, and I use my old iPhone X as the storage device. So, the iPhone is actually doing the work. The mic is just replacing the built in mic. I'll have to do some more research on it.

At the very beginning of the video, I hear a plane taxiing there, and it sounds like a B-717. Is that right, or could I be hearing the Embrair?

It's so beautiful to see the Rocky Mountains under a slim layer of clouds. The Midwestern states are my favourite part of the USA,not to forget California of course. I loved to go hiking, mountain biking, fishing and I enjoyed skiing in Park City and Alta when I lived in our friends house in Provo.
