First video I've seen replacing the rear fittings, everyone else avoids doing this , Thanks much I have to do mine, The videos I've been seeing are either pulling the motor or lifting the cab. Thanks so much for sharing

Incredible you were able to get to the rear fittings. Plenty of videos on pulling the turbo but all of them say it’s impossible to get to the fittings on the back of the block. I couldn’t find a mechanic in my area who would replace the fittings without pulling the motor. Great job!

Just a tip, you can totally pull these through the passenger side wheel well with a pic a 19 mm and a little patience. Takes about an hour

@@jessiestarns2020 If you take the wheel liner out on the passenger side, you can get to both of the line on the back of the block. Then all you have to do is pull the driver side off the turbo.

I have a 2012 f150 that I’m currently leaking coolant , coming down the bell and dripping onto the starter and then onto the transmission pan , the only thing I can think of is the fittings on the back side of the engine only when the truck sits after use, is when I see this happening . I did replace the fittings on both turbos. So hopefully this fixes the issue

I heard you can get to the passenger side fitting by removing the vacuum pump, and the driver side by taking off the coolant crossover. You're much braver than me. I'm sending mine to the shop for manifold and coolant lines. Can't have it down for all the days this would take me.

It can turn into a bigger job quick if you replace all of the fittings. Thankfully only the one line was leaking at the turbo and engine so I just replaced those to save time and money.

It's crazy how many videos I've seen how many of these guys that don't pull the intake to make those fittings way easier to get to. I personally pulled the cab. I replaced all the lines and all fittings not just one or two of them.

Why would you pull the cab? It's super easy to pull the passenger side wheel well and get to them that way. It only takes like an hour to do.

My 2016 has low coolant level and an occasional burning smell, sometimes white smoke from around the area where you were doing this near the passenger side turbo. Do you think it could be a fitting ?
@swrvtech

It’s a good chance it could be one of them yes, especially if coolant is becoming low in what should be a sealed system.

Better off removing oil vacum pump, the well and use the long pick. With curve on the end. Glue a small make up mirror or any small one. I have two daughters so plenty of little mirrors😂 . to the fire wall . Pop the click with long pick with a curve on the end. and use 19 mm and 30 minutes if it’s your first time. Good luck to all.

nice job! Do you feel like the job would be easier with the valve covers removed? I need to replace leaky covers and thought I'd also pull the intake and clean my intake valves. I have a driver side coolant pipe leaking at the rear. I tried a bottle of barrs leaks sealant and it did work temporarily. I'm thinking it may be easier with top of engine off to change out those fittings. thanks.

Thank you and potentially but more likely for debris to fall into the heads I would think. I would replace your thermostat and flush the entire system once you change the fitting so you can get any of the remaining stop leak out of the system so hopefully it won’t block anything.

I’m changing out the turbos on my f150. After I’m all done do I just add coolant to top it off where it was at and then run the truck with ac and heat to hear it up with the coolant cap off?
@swrvtech
Жыл бұрын
Yessir, having the heat on also circulates the coolant through the heater to purge any air, once up to temp put the cap on safely and drive it around and then let it cool and check the level again
