Thanks for the great video! I am pretty much putting iRobots service and support to a test. I have had a lot of problems with error messages and navigation issues, mostly the S9 not being able to find the home base to save its life. At other times it just stops in a middle of a room and says he can not locate a room. I’ve spent about three hours through multiple calls to iRobot and their first level of support is baffled. They have had me pull the battery,, numerous resets and such, but still lots of issues. They have had me send several videos to their programmers, which are being reviewed today. I am still optimistic that this will all get resolved, but at the moment I am missing the i7 which as far as navigation and error code issues, worked much better. Fingers crossed!

I didn’t hear back from the programmers today, however hope to tomorrow. I have a feeling that this is heading toward or return or replace, as this far thru are baffled by all the problems. I am really hoping that they can get this figured out, as it seems like a great device. The i7 was so great, so hopefully this one will be as well. 👍

SoCal Dude Yeah sounds like a defective unit, while the s9 is dumber than a brick, it still manages to make it way to the charger, I even tested it in complete dark basement and it found it made it way to the charger. Try another unit see if that improves.

Just thought I would give you an update on my S9+ issues. I finally got a call from iRobot today and advised by the rep that heard back from the escalation team and indeed the robot and base needed to be replaced. They said a new unit was shipping today, expedited shipping. While this whole ordeal has been a bit frustrating, I have found that iRobot’s response and service has been top notch!

Going to hold on to my i7 for the time being. The s9 has some room for improvement and I believe they will resolve most via software updates. I just with the clean base was interchangeable between the i7 and s9

Tomorrow the s9+ and m6 will be released in europe. Due to your videos, I actually consider to buy them. But the price here in europe is way too high. The s9 costs 1600 euros, thats arround 1800 dollar. And the m6 costs 700 euros, which is 787 in dollar. For me, thats just too much money for spending on robots. I will wait and maybe they will drop in price. Thanks for all your videos, keep on the great work.

tomwiles it’s ok. The problem is the logic and behaviour of the S9 it’s just idiot. If the logic was better the robot would be much efficient and faster. The Xiaomi Roborock are much more efficient in terms of logic and behaviour. Let’s say you have a long and narrower room. The robot will clean on the narrow side and bump and bump on the walls the narrow side instead moving along the longer side and be fast at cleaning.

S9+ worked way better picking up than the I7+. I will say as of right now the I7 is way smarter than the S9. It goes in the corner and sits there for awhile and doesnt seem to know what to do.I'm sure will fix in updated. The I7 just got no go zones which worked very good but the S9 doesnt have it yet.😥
@RobotMasters

Thanks for sharing the experience with your s9 and i7. Yes the i7 seems a little more refined in the navigation department. Also can pick up more than the i7. I found the no go zones to work well and impatiently waiting for this feature to arrive to the m6 and s9 🤔.

Great review, S9 was suppose to be quieter, mine is NOT, Traded in/up from I7+ to S9+, S9 has issues with thro-rugs edges on hardwood floors, sometimes turning rug 50% over and stuck S9 wheels, have 6 thro- rugs and I7 never had issues, S9 issues on all, the S9 is pushing down on front end and tries to crawl under rugs, how to fix ? (S9 May go back 60 day return). how about Roborock S6 vrs S9 ...
@RobotMasters
5 жыл бұрын
Yeah the i7 tend to perform better on rugs since it extractors sit higher up, trade off lose some suction. Looking to get the s6, saving my pennies LoL I have had the Roborock s5 same suction and brush design, does well over area rugs and high profile carpet. Has a similar design to the i7. The s9 is the only Robot Vacuum that I know of that literally drags / pushes its extractors along, no front wheels or smart weight distribution what so ever 😩
@transammatt
5 жыл бұрын
Randy Earl I agree 100% with you my i7 had some problems with early software. But unfortunately the S9 is really made for hardwood floors not sure of the engineers follow through with everything and the new design. I know the neato D7 is shaped the same way but it has some wheels up front. That may help it move on carpet better?

Hi Nathan, I heard a common problem for the S9 is error code 31. Some call it the “red ring of death”. The S9 would run for several minutes at a time, stop in place stating error 31. I currently have this issue but iRobot could not take mine in for repair. I did some research and found that it is likely due to a loose connection as opposed to software. Have you experienced this problem? Do you know what might be the culprit and ways to potentially fix it? Thanks for your videos! Also, please do an S9 disassembly video.

@RobotMasters
4 жыл бұрын
Nicolae Enache The biggest strong point with the s9 is the higher airflow, so if you have carpet you will get a deeper cleaning. Most of the features are the same across the s9 and i7. In the app the s9 allows for 3 different power settings, also the D shape allows the robot to get into corners better. The side brush also does a better job not scattering debris

Have you had an issue with the S9+ side brush getting tangled to the point where it prevents it from docking correctly? I have all tile floors and both side brushes get bound up within one whole-house cleaning cycle. I think the bunched-up side brush then prevents the charging pins from making proper contact with the docking station.
@RobotMasters
5 жыл бұрын
Interesting never had that happen, would think the side brush to be too small to reach the charging pads, my side brush does bunch up but doesn't affect the charging. Maybe try a replacement side brush or remove the side brush to verify the robot charges properly
@MikeyJohnstone
5 жыл бұрын
@@RobotMasters They don't reach the charge pads specifically, but rather the bound-up side brush "pushes" the vacuum up just high enough for the pins not to make proper contact with the charge pads on the vacuum. If I remove the brush - it docks perfectly every time. I tried a new brush and it worked great until it got bound-up. Was just curious if you had the same issue with your testing since it started happening to me our second day of use :-( Thanks for the reply! Love your videos!
