My friends ex boyfriend worked there about 10 yrs ago CHAD it snowed like ice under it and his mustang wouldn't go anywhere they told him if he was 30 mins late he was fired 😢 my mom n dad worked at a factory they had to be there no matter what also THE RIVER CAME fast I've lived here all my life NEVER WOULD I THOUGHT OUR RIVER COULD DO THIS .. I see where you are coming from, but you have to look at it like an Appalachian. If he had not went into work that day he could have just as likely lost his job for not coming in . Erwin is a beautiful community, but like most small towns, work is not plentiful (especially good paying jobs). So, when you have a "good" job, you'll do whatever it takes to keep it because you have a family to take care of

We had a similar situation in the winter where we were able to leave work in the middle of the day because of incoming bad weather. It's not like Helene formed over that area in the matter of minutes. There had to be ample warning!

Impact Plastics is a multi million dollar company ! The owner, Gerald OConnor can be seen online kneeling next to his $100k plus Porsche Carrera with a vanity plate that reads, IMPACT. All the employees need to sue the hell out of him and make him pay !!!!!!!!

They could have left earlier when the first warnings came. Other companies let their people leave at 10:00 am. These people didn’t leave until 2:00 pm.

Didn’t this just happen a few years ago? A company wouldn’t let the workers go home with severe weather on the way and a tornado hit the building. Many of them were killed.

No dam was opened. It was by far the worst flood in recorded history. The plant is across the interstate from the river. The river covered the interstate in that area. 👌
