Rice is from the era when I still followed the NFL. He was always the consummate professional. You could see how hard he worked, how he concentrated on his job, and how he was prepared to take the hit to make the catch. His routes were immaculate, but he also had that open field savvy that drove defences crazy. He had no patience with stupid media questions, and I admire him for that as well as his talent. Years later, Rice is still a class act. Thanks for posting this interview.

Jerry Rice should have been asked what he felt about John Taylor, his teammate on the opposite side?!

Best football player ever. You don't get handed the ball and he retired with the most TD's in NFL history. (With 2 different QB's - with different arms - entirely) I don't see that record being broken.

People don't realize who's being interviewed. People think he's the goat receiver in the nfl when he's actually the goat nfl player.

Jerry's my football hero but he didn't know when to retire. There's no reason he should have ever worn a Seahawks or Broncos uniform. He hung on too long and only stopped when the NFL told him it was over. Records be damned, I would've rather seen him retire on top like Barry Sanders did than to see someone I held in such high esteem struggle and be forced to quit something he was obviously so passionate about.
