When ordering my FIRST pickup from Wilde, Becky answered the phone and we chatted, then Bill gets on the phone and he blew my mind. We had a two+ hrs conversation regarding his childhood, developing pickups and how they work... just so generous with his time and knowledge.

What an amazing man and a huge contributor to musicians all over the world. I've been playing his Telecaster and his bass pickups for many years and have recommended them to hundreds of others. All the best to Becky and Shannon for keeping his legacy alive.

Rad, I purchased my first Bill Lawrence guitar cables and 1/4" plugs in 1984 when I was in my own punk rock band called No Apparent Reason. I had a Peavey Musician 400 Bass Head and a Rickenbacker bass guitar.

Bill Lawrence is a rare find that, in a musician, resides an understanding that the how of the sounds being made is the counterpart of the endeavor..

I have a set, 3x L-220s from the 70s, all yellowish plastic now, but they still sound Groovy. Nils Löfgren used the L-220 in a stratocaster in the 70s before he switched to L-250s dual blades.

Thanks for Upload. He is the godfather of all pickup makers. There would be no Larry Dimarzios, or Seymour Duncans without german Willi teaching them how it has to be done.❤

I have a set of Wilde pickups, and they are the real deal. Beware of “Bill Lawrence” branded pickups. The rights to the name stayed with a company after Bill left (similar to Leo Fender leaving Fender to go to Musicman and later G&L) If you want a real Bill Lawrence (the man) design, you can still order Wilde pickups directly from his family. You will not regret it.

I think that, maybe, what I appreciate most about the guitar is that it allows the player to combine rhythm, melody, and harmony in patterns informed by finger reach. This allows the player to adapt to the sensibilities of each other's playing bringing variations in style to the mix. I can access all the notes needed across two octaves with little hand repositioning. Also, if for tonal option, I can throw in single string playing when I want a thinner tone. The same set of notes can be played in at least three places for each key selected. These places may by be higher or lower on the neck or on higher or lower strings. I don't have to "select" each note mentally before playing. Playing has taught me while I watched my fingers generate notes and in patterns not pre-conceived. Playing an instrument informs the creation of pieces to be played on that instrument. I have transcribed from piano to guitar and vice versa. But, after that the pieces become something else because they now exist on another instrument. Knowing the limitations of each instrument coordinated can help to define the design of coordination. I'd prefer each player to bring something to the mix and not simply cover a predefined part. The product of a composer’s imagination may be adapted to differing sets of instruments but that reduces the players to minimal interpretation only.

Applying the suitable material to provide magnetic influence more efficiently, the pairing of power source and production item is to be maximized - in terms of balance of function per intended use..

Yes, first define the envelope available within the standard component housing. Everything thing else can then be adjusted, coordinating to produce the desired outcome. An understanding or priority effect is necessary to lessen "wasteful imagination". Imagination is essential but must always be supported to be useful. To avoid a "rabbit hole" is not to disrespect adventure but guide it.

Well, support of "rock & roll" would have dissipated very quickly had the listeners not adapted to that "nasty" sound of loud. Can low impedance systems produce sufficient "nasty" to satisfy R&R hangers on?

Without understanding of the dipole as the necessary basis for he understanding of all types of magnetism "experts" spin their theories to a dead end.
