While shopping we noticed two anxious teens hanging around the pregnancy testing kits, I could overhear one saying "we don't have enough money". We handed them $20. I said "talk to your parents or an adult you trust" and then walked away. They're scared, uninformed teens not knowing who to turn to. The safe haven law should be discussed in schools, at the very least pamphlets should be handed out. My children were raised knowing there was nothing too big we couldn't handle as a family. I identified my parent's mistakes and didn't repeat them...praying a great forever home is found for this little blessing.

IN the US a parent can give their children up if they don't want them or can't care for them. However, most parents, even bad parents, won't give up children voluntarily. Many of these horrible parents get all kinds of government benefits. HOwever, well off people abuse their children but would never give them up. It isn't that a person can't, they won't. Please parents. Give your babies to a hospital, or fire department, and don't just abandon him or her to die a horrible death or be eaten by an animal.

I have to wonder if this is a human trafficking situation. We know teenage girls are being forced into prostitution to pay off their debts to the people that traffic them across the border. This Sheriff has a program that helps victims of trafficking but most people don’t know about it.

This breaks my damn heart, I would take that baby girl in the blink of an eye. I have been wanting another baby and we have been trying to have one for 13 years and we are on our 3rd round of IVF. I pray this little angel goes to a family that will love her unconditionally

My mom lives in Polk county and wants to adopt her. I told her to reach out to the Sheriff office to get more information. So happy the baby is alive and well. So sad. FL has a safe haven law, you can give up a child with no questions asked within 7 days of being born.

Your Mom already had her family. Let a childless couple adopt this little one. If your Mom wants to raise more children, foster or adopt from the pool of kids who have been waiting for a family for years.

Life is precious. He makes the point of her strong lungs a few times. She had to be strong & loud to be heard by someone inside a house while sleeping at 1:00 am. Also very healthy. After this rough start, this baby will thrive with love and care. Exceptional girl!
