LOL that was a CB radio! :) The modern cell phone did not become publicly available until 1984, and even the first "Zach Morris" handhelds were not quite as big as that radio.

"we'll get back to you". 4 years later the cops show up at his door saying they found his motorcycle, and the only reason they did is because the guy who stole it used it in a drive-by shooting lol.

Ahhh yes . Rotary phones. VCRs . Boomboxes. Those were the days. Actually , any days before 9/11 were the days. That's when the Country started going downhill . Now the Coronavirus ? 🙄 Ridiculous. Mask mandates. Vaccine mandates. Political turmoil . Bunch of entitled millennials complaining the world isn't politicly correct enough yet . So glad I'm 55 , already lived my life. I saw the gold building in the beginning of the commercial and I thought to myself , "wow, that looks like the gold building in Hartford." Then I thought, "nah, of all places why would they fillm an ad in CT??" And then when Scruff said "Hartford, CT", I was shocked I had been right afterall Pretty cool they filmed it in Hartford instead of Chicago or NYC etc

@@babygirl6789 my dad worked right down the street from the gold building at the Metropolitan District Commission at 555 Main Street. The MDC was built in 1978. My dad worked there as a project engineer for 42 years. Right across from the MDC is the Wadsworth Antheneum & City Hall. I miss the old WFSB building at Constitution Plaza just down the street, right at the end of the highway ramp. I was born in Hartford myself, at Hartford Hospital. My parents lived on Grandview Terrace at that time, right by Trinity College.

The early 80s were a very dangerous time, especially in cities like NYC and LA. That crap you see on Worldstar is nothing compared to what was happening back then. They would have gotten slashed up or shot to death 'back in the day'.

fun fact: McGruff has a cousin who lives in Manhattan. Even stranger is his cousin is ALSO a crime fighter, though for some reason the two never got along very well. something about his cousin's partner, this rabbit... thing... and something about basic ethics and sanity and the sort. I asked McGruff about it once and he just said that a "freelance policeman" is NOT a legitimate form of employment in the criminal justice system...

Well, if the guy was actually stealing the bike, he could say he was taking the bike to fix it for a friend that was away/on vacation as a favor that was promised and no he didn't have their number with him to call and that his friend would pick it up later when he got back. The police would believe him, it would work, and then he could run like hell with it.
