My wife's brother was a Marine in Vietnam and I asked him if this was really how basic training was back then. He said it was actually worse because they had to weed out the weaklings before they ended up in Vietnam and freaked out.

Hartman didnt get upset that Joker couldn't do that last pull up for the corp, seems like as long as the men proved to him that they were giving thier all and trying he had no problem, but poor private Pyle just couldn't cut it.
