This is proof that you don't need a decent budget to make a brilliant movie. All you need is a talented director, and some great acting. Hell you don't even need a good scriptwriter, as John Gotti's life provided enough material for half a dozen movies! This deserved a theatrical release more than any movie I know, and it was all true...a masterful biopic.

This was the most touching line to me @ 58:21..."I love you like a Son."..."But, don't ever put me on the spot"..."And don't,...ever, force my hand." This statement is both impactful and stirring when he tells John. And it was from his heart. For whatever subjective reason, it truly moved me when I heard it. It was also the Actor's delivery when he's saying it.

That was exactly how Neil felt about John but he was Cosa Nostra to the core and if John broke a rule he would have forced his hand. Like he said in another scene.

The best movie on the subject. 100% Better than Witness to the Mob with Nick Turturro, better than Boss of Bosses with Chazz Palminteri and immensely better than the new Gotti movie with John Travolta. Armand Assante was so good and the supporting cast was just as good. Anthony Quinn, William Forsythe, Frank Vincent, Dominic Chianese, Vincent Pastore and Tony Sirico...
