It's sad that actors are who people look to for answers on issues like this at all. What does he have to do with any of this? I believe it's called people being starstruck. Just like everyone else I'm sad and extremely sympathetic to what's happened and think something needs to be done about the mental health crisis and moral misdirection our nation has taken. Common sense laws that don't affect the constitution should be put in place. If you look at all the facts, not just what you're being told to think, you can see. Sadly, Matthew was used a mere prop for political leverage. "Hit them in the heart, Matt!" Well yes, this breaks my heart and no one is saying action shouldn't be taken. It's the type of action that we need to discuss. It's the core issues people don't want to talk about, but would rather run on impulsive emotions that don't really solve the problem. Good people don't go around shooting people. Bad people do. How do we identify who these people are? Raise the age of who can purchase a firearm maybe? Hold gun owners responsible for their guns should it get in to the hands of their child or someone else? How about taking people serious when they tell a bunch of people they're going to go shoot a bunch of people, like this guy did? I mean that's a good start.

@@HooksBill Rule number one is you gotta watch the video if you wanna talk. I know you've got your feelings & you see something that you think will contradict your feelings, so your feelings take over, and you talk about how you feel....okay, this isn't about how you feel. If you wanna watch the whole video and take issue with any single thing that is being said, then do that. Mental health is a big part of the problem, and he addresses that. Everyone knows that. This issue is multi-level, and nothing that Matthew McConaughey (an actor, fine, but also an American, from the town that just endured a mass shooting, just as entitled to share an opinion from a podium as you are to share one in a comment thread of a video you didn't even watch) talks about would, in any way, infringe upon Constitutional right.

Matt’s approach was to humanize these people - not make these families another statistic. Put faces and stories to them. What a great man, clearly distraught over this and is DOING something about it to make these childrens legacies MATTER. God bless him - a great man doing and saying the hard stuff. What a tragedy. RIP. We need to figure this out because another mass shooting is unacceptable.

Get the stuff that causes aggression out of the food supply. BHT is one. L-dopa in preworkouts that literally causes workout rage is another. The gazillions of additives other countries ban. Behavior changes in alternative high schools that change the school lunch to whole food. Our food supply is ravaged with mood altering toxins.

How is such a blind reply acceptable? MM was already gearing up using new political tactics like live streaming on KZitem and other events in Austin not long ago. The man is a lifelong actor and quite frankly an amazing "opportunity" presented itself to him, did it not? Eh, I won't make any claims, and he's not the why, he just gets to heavily "reap" all of the fringe benefits of nationwide, perhaps worldwide, political coverage. Was it just not a bit too convenient? He would just as well flip to "pro-gun" obviously if he didn't think 1) the numbers would be calculated accurately as drastically higher 2) his true directives include promoting certain agendas and this is a no questions asked, deal with the devil people know exists but clearly you all refuse to see it. It must be easier to choose the path of blatant ignorance, no offense intended. Someone below said "lets put security at all schools." Not only has this been one claim at one point, there were something like fourteen present agencies, officers approached then fled, and you think some random security guard w/o proper training is going to do any better? In Texas, in order to work armed security, one must only pay a minimal fee of around $400 (in many instances employer pays...) and it's less than a week of in-class and some hands on training. Last I recall looking it was 3, 8-5 days and you're "licensed." It pays next to nothing, you must buy your own gear in many cases, and I could go on... all of that money to militarize the police, they show up in droves, and do nothing. What even happened in an hour and a half? That's a very long period of time in ANY case that wasn't open two way negotiations. This is plain as day logic and knowledge? BTW, he said he'd been out of cellular range, interesting and rare quite frankly. No cell service in studio? Really? No wifi? 5G is a great tool obviously. He grew up there but had to solidify why it took him a moment to respond ...cool story, bro. Funny how his character only lasted less than a minute or so before he gives up to script, he cries on demand (probably in the notes,) and he's wearing Depp style glasses....all small cues that manipulate your mind and arguably your very soul.

Incredibly powerful and moving speech by Matthew, excellent timing as it's been two weeks since the shooting and I can already see that the news cycle is starting to move on from it. Remarkable that he met with the families on the second day and kept such a low profile about it that we didn't know about until several days later, ie, kept the attention off of him and instead on the victims(can't say this about other celebs that went there). A traumatic horrific event happens and the world stops for maybe a week and then everyone moves on to whatever, until the next tragedy..Not the parents or the families, or even Uvalde they will never move on ( speaking as a Uvalde family member). As a hunter & gun owner since 1966, let me (try to) make one thing clear to my fellow gun owners: Your claims of needing/wanting military grade killing machines for "protecting my home and family" is nonsense. If you people who shoot know how to use your weapons, you don't need 50+ shots to complete the job at hand. If you do, then you're like the majority of Walmart gun owners without a clue and should not be waving your guns around.
@alyssagwynne421

Not when the government is the one who is coming for us..not then will a Walmart 22 or shotgun save us. This is a problem. We should be able to protect our selves, no matter what. An AR 15 in a responsible gun owner hands would never amount to this tragedy! Gun responsibility is the core.
@gabreldelaney
2 жыл бұрын
Yes! What I been saying
@McKenzieIdeality
2 жыл бұрын
That's not the point. The point is that if the government can carry a military grade weapon - the people should as well. Precisely for the reason we have the right to bear arms in the first place - to protect our rights against a corrupt government. The people have always been meant to have the power, and if we are out-weaponed, we have no way to defend our lives or our freedoms. This is why more responsible people should own guns. More people should carry. More people should be properly and safely trained. (And yes, more people should know how to properly lock up their guns.) So if our government tries to do what the Nazis did - there will be a chance for us and America to survive. That is the point and has been since the beginning.
