this is the best interview I have seen her give - sometimes when she retells the story it sounds rehearsed (probably because that is how she has dealt with the trauma). But she is really remarkable in the way she approaches this, in her recovery, and in her composure and help to everyone.

I wonder if when she was only 14 just b4 she was kidnapped at knifepoint to her throat and held captive for 9 hellish months she'd eventually become a public speaker/figure without being a celebrity on her mission to aid and be an inspiration for any and all women of probably young and fairly young. God bless her.

Everything that happens has a purpose, God chose this beautiful articulate girl to go through this terrible ordeal and allow her to survive and heal to help others to make a difference. Great testimony of faith and hope.

I want to know if she ever felt pissed at her parents for being so naive as to bring strange homeless people around the home and kids. And the church for putting these ideas into the heads of everyone around her. When we found out what happened, I couldn't believe how stupid her parents were, to be honest. Helping people is a good thing, but there are safe and unsafe ways to do so, and then there are incredibly stupid things..that all said, I might be jaded since my childhood shoolmate was kidnapped and murdered by james woods and according to stories, she had many chances to escape when he was passed out drunk, but she stayed because she thought she could convert him, and if that is true, I blame the church for wrecking her chances of surviving, and I blame the killer for killing her. Again, she was mormon.

1:40- My oldest daughter is 3 years old and I can guarantee that she would never willingly go with a stranger the way she describes. My daughter is friggin bright as hell and tough as nails. I feel bad for the prick who tries to lure her away. He'd end up bringing her back after a day with an apology note. She'd kick his ass.

Toddlers experience more stranger distress. Your 3yo daughter also wouldn't be able to process a knife to her throat and to think of the safety of others if she didn't comply. But wait until she's an impressionable teenager seeking attention. You've obviously not seen those videos where parents swear up and down that their kid would never go with a stranger, so they conduct a controlled experiment where a "stranger" asks to meet them or whatever and THE KID GOES!! My mother claimed the Ransom of Red Chief over me too. But I think you might be delusional.

I feel really bad for this girl because I don't think shes really all that intelligent but she's thrust into the spotlight as a role model and spokesperson for stuff she really has no business giving advice about. I don't mean that as an insult. I don't think she's dumb, I just don't think shes all that intelligent, she's just a regular 20-something year old girl. They're asking her questions about stuff that is way over her head and you can instantly see it in her face when she's asked a question. She was abducted and raped, that makes her a victim, not an expert.

What do you call it after 20 or 30 times? Half rape? What? She ran away with this couple. She drank alcohol and took LSD. She is no victim. She is a liar.

Actually, Smart has done multiple public speaking, reaching out to other survivors and hearing their stories and experiences. She's done her research. Smart knows what she's doing.
